That stuff you're afraid to talk about...the sin you think is too messy? We unpack that here...

Through good and bad, sadness and joy, my heart lies with showing the goodness of God in all seasons. Especially the messy ones.

Every day society tells us that life has to be perfect and orderly to be beautiful. Our day-to-day should be a nothing less than perfect. We need a flawless aesthetic, a five year plan and perfectly curated social media. There's nothing glamorous about disorder and uncertainty. It's not "normal" to struggle.

But God wants to use those ugly parts, too. Those broken memories, those hidden struggles, and those less than beautiful moments.

God wants to use the ugly stuff, too...

I wondered when I found out that I was pregnant with a second baby if my heart was big enough to hold both of my boys. I love my oldest so much that it hurts and the thought of being able to love another child…another boy especially…didn’t seem possible. I told myself that if it […]

What it Means…

I have so many things that I want to talk about…to blog about. I want to tell you all that Noah started Preschool on Monday. And I want to go into detail about how I’m feeling about having my biggest baby gone three days a week. How my heart is breaking the tiniest bit because […]

What I Want to Say…

There is a reason that I waited so long to write this post. For starters, I never even had intentions of breastfeeding baby boy #2. We had such a hard time with Noah…he wouldn’t latch, my milk supply was low, and we had ZERO support in that department where we were in Florida. I just […]

Thoughts on Breastfeeding

I am a BIG dork when it comes to the New Year. I hate the word “resolution” because it simply implies that you are writing down (if you even write them down) some goals for the year…only to get two weeks into them and throw in the towel. I don’t make resolutions. I set goals. […]

Planning, Dreaming, Goal Setting

Last year was the first year that I took on the One Word Challenge. I didn’t link up with anyone, didn’t join some big group of people who were sharing and supporting and encouraging each other to live out said word or anything like that. I just picked a word. Something that represented everything that I […]

Release

We all know that disappointment is part of life. But explaining disappointment to a four year old is a bit different than understanding it as an adult. I’m not sure if it’s experiencing years worth of broken promises and empty words from people who weren’t supposed to let me down. Or if it’s from a […]

Teaching our Children Life Lessons

I have never been a “life of the party” kind of person. I’ve never been one who would randomly walk up and introduce myself to someone I’ve never met (which explains why I’ve yet to attend a Blog Conference). I don’t go out on a limb when it comes to acquiring new friends or expanding […]

Motherhood Robbed me of my Social Skills

I mentioned the other day that the most frequent question we (well, more me I think) were getting from people was whether or not we are disappointed that we are having another boy. People who barely know us have given looks of what seems like sympathy when we say we are having another boy. People have […]

Brothers

I’ve always been one of those people who takes extra precaution when talking to people. I don’t assume someone is pregnant just by the way they look. I don’t generally ask people when they are planning to have kids and/or add to their family. After struggling for a year trying to get pregnant with Jonah and […]

Things You Don’t Say to a Pregnant Woman

It’s no secret that the most common question asked to soon-to-be mom’s is: Are you guys hoping for a girl or a boy? Since we already have a little boy, I typically get asked if we’re hoping it’s a girl. Or either people assume that we would only want a girl. I’ll be honest… I won’t […]
