  1. Doug Gilmer (CMC ret.) says:

    Hi Courtney! Thanks for getting Josh blogging! I’ve really enjoyed reading his posts. Not sure if you remember, but we met when I was filling in as the CMC at Sector NC; you all were about to leave town on your PCS. I make my home in Birmingham, AL (Roll Tide & Fried Okra!).

    I’ve used the same color scheme for years when it comes to marking my Bible; I seldom highlight but I do a LOT of underlining with Micron pens.

    Blue = Commands or Instruction
    Yellow = General encouragement
    Purple = Attributes of God (faithfulness, majesty, etc.)
    Green = Promises of God
    Orange = Warnings
    Red = Our sin, God’s salvation
    Black = I use for emphasis on things not captured above, etc.

    I also like to use wide-margin Bibles so I can makes notes as a I read. My hope is one day my kids will get those marked up Bibles and the notes and are encouraged and motivated by them.

    • I love Micron pens. I just hate that they are SO EXPENSIVE! Gracious. I did just run across another great journaling pen that doesn’t bleed from Zebra. You can snag a HUGE pack on Amazon, but they are quickly becoming my “go to.” Praying for you and your family. I hope you guys are well amidst all of this COVID craziness.
