22 weeks!
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he’s even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you’d be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he’ll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily. (via Baby Center)
I had my last checkup on Friday and so far I’ve gained about 11-12 pounds. I’m gaining according to the recommendation at about one pound per week; which means that if I keep it up at this rate I will have gained about 27 pounds this go around. Personally, I’d be okay with only gaining 20, but since I gained 30 with Noah, I don’t expect to get by with that. Fortunately for me, this go around I’m craving mostly fruit so the pounds I’m gaining are coming from good calories instead of junk.
Meh. I’m sleeping with two pillows between my knees, one under my stomach, one behind my back and two under my head. For a total of six right now. I have to roll from side to side, but I do find myself sleeping mostly on my left side. Waking up several times a night to run to the bathroom, so I feel like I rarely get any consecutive sleep time these days.
Josh felt the baby kick for the first time on Tuesday! I was laying on the couch trying to get some rest in while Noah took a rare nap when Jonah decided it was “bounce all over mama’s insides” time. Josh managed to make it home before he settled down so he got to feel the little booger rolling around. Kicks are getting harder and more frequent these days. Enough so that I could really start doing kick counts most days. We got the results of our ultrasound on Friday. Baby boy is healthy and everything looks normal. He is breech right now, but it’s still too early to really concern ourselves with that.
Jonah’s crib and baby bedding were delivered as well as a few odds and ends for Noah and outfits for Jonah. We got the crib put together and the bedding setup and I dug out the one minuscule box of baby things we had leftover from when Noah was tiny. It was mostly baby blankets and burp cloths, but I got them washed and folded to put away for Jonah. So excited to keep counting down the weeks and meet this little boy!
Baby Boy!! Did you guys see the photos from our Gender Reveal Party?!
Nothing of significance this week…unless you count being able to get comfortable at night.
August 16…the last of my four week checkups! Getting ready to move to three’s and two’s in the next month or so!
(Just a little comparison of how much this shirt has “stretched” in the last 11 weeks. The first shot was taken the day I bought it while we were in Anchorage. And obviously, the second, 11 weeks later!)

[…] guess probably 15-17 pounds so far since I got pregnant. I feel much bigger this week than I did two weeks ago when I did my last update. My stomach just feels heavier and fuller, so I know I’ve gained a […]
I love this. I wish I had kept updates like this. What a great idea!
Good luck and hang in there!
I didn’t blog or really update in any way with our first, so I was determined to do it different this time. 🙂
Just reading blogs now and I see that you did an 11 week to 22 week comparison, too! Love it!
I saw that you did yours like that, too! How funny! You are looking great!
All my babes were breech at some point, but fortunately NO c-sections! We were able to get first one turned via manual version by doc at 38 wks, and I studied up as much as humanly possible to know exercises etc… to do with next ones if breech. And it worked! Email me if you want some tips or if baby Jonah is still breech closer to the end. Glad to help any way I can. 🙂
Great updates!

Ah, I hope so! I’m so excited and eager to meet this sweet baby.
