This was a really nice post. I was thinking of writing something about being happy with where you are right now – to realize that life’s a journey – and I think what you’ve written here ties into that. Looking back at some of the wanker things we’ve done kind of sucks, but it’s great to be able to measure our progress too.

My husband and I have had many ups and downs in our almost 5 years of marriage but we keep going. Life is hard sometimes but we just have to make a committed effort to not let it get us down.

I agree. I think the best thing that we did when we got married was set the rule and agree that divorce was never going to be an option. That no matter what happens between us, we will get through it. Together.

What a good post, what a great question. It is I believe, worth it. Every relationship goes through changes, challenges and compromises…we have to want to get through them and move into a better place. I see this a lot since we had our sons..we were close when we got married and through our infertility and my IVF high risk pregnancy but parenting is so hard….it is taking more patience and compromise with one another than I could have imagined. I wasn’t expecting this would be the challenging part…but every day we work At it and learn new things and move on.
    Great great post!

Parenting IS hard, and it’s especially tough on a marriage if we aren’t careful and don’t take time to be a couple instead of just “mom & dad.” If I know nothing else about marriage ,it is that it is a constant decision, made every single day, to love the other person whether you feel like it or not. Because, let’s face it, there are some days we just don’t want to. LOL

  4. Kathryn says:

Great post! I totally agree with everything here.

  5. Laura says:

I love that we both wrote about goals this time around! Goals are hard and scary, especially when we’re not sure if we are ever going to get there.

I am so proud of you for moving forward. I am proud of you and Josh for making this year great. I am so thrilled to hear about how great all the rest of your years will be! xo

    • Courtney K. says:

I think you summed it up in that first sentence….”Especially when we’re not sure if we are ever going to get there.” it’s hard to put yourself out there like that…to become vulnerable. But, I’m learning that goals and dreams and ambitions that are too strong to stifle are there for a reason. And that they were placed in our hearts for a purpose, by someone who knows much better than we do. 🙂

  6. I didn’t get my act together and write a thiner thursday post yet, but I’m checkin in on y’all. LOVE the new blog design over at Laura’s place. Kudos to both of you. I think all we can ever ask of ourselves or others is that we don’t give up when it feels like we’re trudging along. Refine the goal, refocus our energies, be grateful for how far we’ve come. Then keep moving.

    • Laura says:

😀 I love the blog design too! Thanks Heidi!

    • Courtney K. says:

Thank you, Heidi! Laura’s design was SO much fun to create! I think you nailed it…sometimes, when we feel like we aren’t making much progress, we just need to step back and re-evaluate. Then, keep moving forward.
