That stuff you're afraid to talk about...the sin you think is too messy? We unpack that here...

Through good and bad, sadness and joy, my heart lies with showing the goodness of God in all seasons. Especially the messy ones.

There is purpose behind the

There is                  in the chaos,

Mess,

there is meaning in the

Every day society tells us that life has to be perfect and orderly to be beautiful. Our day-to-day should be a nothing less than perfect. We need a flawless aesthetic, a five year plan and perfectly curated social media. There's nothing glamorous about disorder and uncertainty. It's not "normal" to struggle.

But God wants to use those ugly parts, too. Those broken memories, those hidden struggles, and those less than beautiful moments.

God wants to use the ugly stuff, too...

I never questioned what I would do with my life when I had kids. It was always just a given that I would become a stay-at-home-mom. My mom was always around growing up. She went to class parties, did the PTA thing, softball games, you name it. She was always a presence in my life […]

Why I Do What I Do

My head isn’t all here this week, folks. I promise I didn’t just ditch out on you. I haven’t made it around the link to visit last weeks 52 Faces participants, but I plan on doing that today. Bare with me. Like I mentioned on Monday, I’ve been just walking around in a fog. The […]

52 Faces: Week 6

In a perfect world, little boys would eat breakfast at the table without spilling milk and cereal all over the floor while watching reruns of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Team Umizoomi… In a perfect world, I’d cook at least two square meals a day for my family-Breakfast (the most important meal) and Dinner (a nice, […]

In a Perfect World…

It’s no secret around here that I absolutely hated high school. I spent most of my time wishing that I could change myself…my circumstances…my life. Looking back now at both my high school career and my life as a “tween” (isn’t that the current term for that almost a teenager phase?) I wish I could go […]

6 Things I’d Tell a Younger Me

…More than once this past week, I reached a point of frustration beyond all others and told my son to, “just leave me alone.” …And then I watched Courageous with my husband and wished I could take the words back. If anything like that ever happened to my son, I don’t know what I would do […]

It took me some time to get on the train with the one word for the year hype. I spent a lot of time wondering whether or not just one word would suffice to keep me on track for the entire year. Could one word drive me to make the most out of every single aspect of […]

Are you totally confused as to where you are? Don’t be.This is still the same place as it was before. Just…different. It’s hard to believe that 2011 has come and gone. What on EARTH?! This past year was a whirlwind. We said goodbye to Alabama January 7 and trekked across the country to our new life […]

Looking Forward…and Behind

Growing up, I didn’t get in a whole lot of trouble. I had my moments (like all kids), but for the most part I tried to mind my P’s and Q’s. I didn’t like punishment. I didn’t like disappointing my parents. So, I did whatever I had to to stay out of trouble. I remember, […]

When Parent’s Fail their Children

As per tradition, we set up our Christmas Tree and got out our Holiday Decorations on Friday. Four boxes of Christmas lights, several hours, and a couple of hundred dollars later we have a tree decorated, a wreath on the front door and a handful of presents already wrapped and waiting for Christmas Eve. Since […]

The last week and a half has been emotional and stressful, to say the least. Little Man’s birthday party-followed immediately by Halloween-totally took the wind out of me. I wonder during times like that how mom’s with five or six kids do it. (Seriously, you guys are my heroes.) Little Man had his three year […]
