That stuff you're afraid to talk about...the sin you think is too messy? We unpack that here...

Through good and bad, sadness and joy, my heart lies with showing the goodness of God in all seasons. Especially the messy ones.

There is purpose behind the

There is                  in the chaos,

Mess,

there is meaning in the

Every day society tells us that life has to be perfect and orderly to be beautiful. Our day-to-day should be a nothing less than perfect. We need a flawless aesthetic, a five year plan and perfectly curated social media. There's nothing glamorous about disorder and uncertainty. It's not "normal" to struggle.

But God wants to use those ugly parts, too. Those broken memories, those hidden struggles, and those less than beautiful moments.

God wants to use the ugly stuff, too...

My oldest son has a stuffed puppy dog. She’s been with our family six years come December.  She was a one of the Christmas gifts he received that very first year he was born. He was barely two months old, not even big enough to sit up yet. My aunt wrapped him up in a […]

Come To Me

It has rained a lot since we moved to North Carolina. I laughed and told my husband that I thought we were going to be getting away from the rain after leaving Kodiak, but I’m pretty certain that it’s rained as much as it did there. With rain comes frogs. Lots and lots of them. I’ve lost […]

Clinging to the World

I’m not sure if everyone who stops by here these days realizes that our time in Kodiak is coming to a close. Soon. As in less than one week soon. We leave on Sunday. For good. I’ve sat to write this post  many times. More so to update whoever still reads this blog on what […]

Kodiak: Then and Now | Our 4 Years on the Rock

It was weird celebrating Easter this year…just simply knowing that this is the last one we will spend in Kodiak. That next Easter we will be somewhere where the kids can have an actual Egg Hunt (which we didn’t have here this year…at least not anywhere on base or with anyone we knew). Our anniversary […]

Easter 2014

Logging into WordPress to write a blog post and immediately being presented with the space to create a Title for my post is a bit overwhelming. I usually don’t even know what I want to write when I sit down to write. Typically just allowing the words to flow when I come to write them. […]

Amazing Things

There is so much on my heart that I want to share. Problem is, I don’t know exactly where to begin. First let me say that Josh and I felt (with abundance) the prayers that were directed our way during our time in Anchorage. I have been steady in my faith for a long, long time. […]

When People Pray

First, I want to say thanks for all of the AMAZING feedback I received on my post this week about creating habits of materialism in our children. Ironically, the post received zero comments but the feedback I go through Facebook, email, and from in person comments by my readers was so encouraging. If I’m being […]

Getting Rid of the Clutter: From Materialism to Simplicity

Admitting that somewhere along the line you have messed up is hard. Admitting that we’ve said something hurtful, done something hurtful, or just intentionally done something to someone for reasons unknown…is hard. Accepting the mistakes. Admitting your flaws. Asking forgiveness….is hard. But, I don’t know that there is anything quite as eye opening and as […]

Where We Messed Up: Battling Materialism in your Children

First I want to say thank you to all of you who have commented, messaged me, emailed me or just offered up a prayer for me. As of right now we are still waiting on THE final test result as far as whether or not this diagnoses is multiple sclerosis. They did an EEG, several […]

More than “Good Enough”

A little over a week ago I put out a plea on Facebook. A plea for prayer. Many of you who follow me on my personal Facebook page know that for the last eight months or so I’ve been battling long term bouts of vertigo and extreme dizziness and nausea. Dizziness to a point of […]
