11 weeks 2 days
Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.
She’s already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won’t feel your baby’s acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming. (via Baby Center)
I finally gained one pound that stuck. Just one. But…now that morning sickness has almost completely subsided and since we’re spending the next 10 days in Anchorage where there are more than enough dine out options to keep a pregnant mama happy, I’m sure that that will change by the time we get back to Kodiak.
When I sleep, I’m sleeping really deep. But, I’m waking up several times a night to go to the bathroom. Tuesday night (though I think it was a fluke from all of the travel Monday), I slept a solid 9 hours without getting up. That, however, is uncommon. I’m sleeping mostly on my right side. For whatever reason, that seems to be the most comfortable. Using one pillow between my knees already because of the back pain I’ve got going on right now.
Yep! I bought my first pair of Maternity jeans yesterday at Target. I think I could still get by for a few more weeks without them, but the belly band makes it really annoying to walk and get in and out of a car. My jeans fall down a bit and the belly band rises up. It’s convenient for sure, but not the most comfortable thing. Plus, regular jeans are still pretty uncomfortable when I sit down.
Besides leaving Kodiak, shopping at Target and Kohls, eating lunch at Olive Garden and buying a new MacBook (what can I say, it’s been a pretty killer week for us!)? Feeling the baby move. She (again, that whole “universal” she thing) isn’t moving all the time and I can’t feel it if I’m up walking around, but I can feel little bumps and taps here and there. Especially at night or right after I eat something sweet (if I’m sitting still). It really makes this pregnancy feel real where so far it’s been one of those things that hadn’t quite set in yet.
Right now, just food in general. And lots of it. Now that morning sickness has almost completely disappeared, all I want to do is eat. I’m keeping myself under control though, maintaining portion size and making sure that I don’t overdo it. I’ve been eating a lot of fruit lately; especially Green Apples. I’m trying to curve my sweet craving with fruit so that I’m not taking in so many empty calories.
No aversions as of now. I haven’t really found anything that I just absolutely do not want. There are times though when I know that I don’t want something, but only when I’m looking for something to eat. Food is either a “YES! Feed me that!” or a “Ewww…no. Not right now.” kind of thing.
Don’t know yet…though several have already started making guesses. What do you think?
We have our next appointment right after we get back and we’ll actually get to hear the baby’s heartbeat. We’ve seen it on our 8 week ultrasound, but we haven’t actually heard it yet. And, of course, looking forward to the rest of our stay here in Anchorage and our time off the island (i.e. more shopping trips to Target, more dinners out, and taking Noah to the indoor water park this weekend…)
Nothing this week, really. Unless you want to add the fact that I miss not having to run to the bathroom every hour or so. But, that’s not something that’s going to go away any time soon.
May 22.
It’s been an exciting and busy week so far. I’m not getting a whole lot of extra sleep right now, so I’m a little bit tired throughout the day, but being off the island has been rejuvenating in itself. Looking forward to getting out some this weekend and getting some good shots of Noah out and about in some of the beautiful places here in Anchorage.
[…] Like I mentioned last week, I don’t really have to wear Maternity pants, but they are much more comfortable right now […]
You look great!!!
Aww, thank you!
Congrats – what a lovely little bump! I’m 27 weeks tomorrow and acne has been a nightmare for me – Glad to hear the morning sickness has worn off – such a yucky time!
Ugh. It really is. I think morning sickness might be the worst aspect of pregnancy. I didn’t experience it at all with our first, so it was definitely a new development this time.
I vote another boy…
We’ll see! I’m thinking of doing some kind of fun giveaway when it’s time to find out. 🙂
Super cute bump! Glad to hear you are having fun shopping off the island and congrats on the new Mac. Seriously consider getting the AppleCare. It’s a little bit of an investment but totally worth. It has saved me a few times with several of our Apple products.
Yeah, I didn’t splurge on the Apple Care right to begin with (just didn’t have the extra $250 lying around since we’re vacationing), but it’s definitely something I’m going to check into in the future before my year is up.
You are so cute! 🙂 I feel for ya with the bathroom trips sister! Great preparation for newborn sleep hours lol
Awww, thanks Linds! I feel like a big bloated blob, but it’s totally worth it. I’m loving (almost) every second.
awe you look so cute!!! i love your little bump 🙂 and YEAH for eating!!! whoohoo!
Haha! Thanks, love! I’m so excited to be able to enjoy food again!
