After pre-writing and scheduling this post the other day, we jumped ahead and did something that the husband and I neither one had the intentions of doing so soon…

We moved the little guy to a Big Boy bed.

We actually ran up on an unbelievable deal.

One of the families here is getting ready to move, and they were selling their sons twin bed.

For $50.00.

And not just any twin bed.

THIS bed…with the mattress included.

(Excuse the terrible photo…took it on my iPod. And the white stuff spackled across the top? The little boy who owned it before us “decorated” it with stickers. Hehe. I just haven’t had a chance to take them off yet.)

There are also drawers on the bottom of the bed, but you can’t really see them here.

Do you know how much a bed like this costs at a furniture store? Do you know how much just a mattress costs?!

So I spent most of my day on Saturday rearranging his room and accommodating his new digs. His room is still only partially decorated, but it’s coming together. I have a few projects to put together to complete it, but it’s over halfway there.

In hopes of getting him excited about sleeping in his new bed, I took him to Walmart to let him pick out his blankets. We already had a cheapo comforter that we bought to match his room; and despite my swearing that I would never buy cartoon sheets, he picked out a set of neon green and blue Toy Story 3 sheets.

I used my better judgment.

I bought the hideous things.

And by night number two of “Operation Big Boy Bed” he was sleeping like a pro. These sheets are only temporary. A quick fix and an aide in the adjustment period. Once he adapts to his new bed, I’m investing in this:

That is, assuming I can talk the husband into spending over $100 on a comforter set. Ahem…not including the sheets. But isn’t it gorgeous?! And you pay for quality when you order from Pottery Barn…right?

And I would really like to do something similar to this in matching colors on his main wall:

Now that the little guys’ room is almost taken care of, I guess it’s time for the husband and I to invest in some furniture of our own. We have a mattress…and a dresser…and a TV. But nothing else. We’ve been waiting to find the perfect bedroom set and it just hasn’t happened yet.

I’m particular about my furniture. As much of an investment as it is, I don’t want to buy something I’m not in love with.  It took me four months to pick out a couch and loveseat.

But I do have an idea of what I want to do with our room (finally) thanks to Pinterest. I have a few different ideas that I want to pull from each of these:

I’ll be honest with you guys…I’m really digging the idea of white bedroom furniture. I know how hard it would be to keep clean, especially with a child and a dog…but seriously. Swoon.
