One of the biggest perks of living in Alaska is the scenery.
Hands down.
Yes, I miss the shopping (umm…Target) and dining experiences offered by the lower 48. Immensely. In fact, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t wish for a Chick-Fil-A or an Olive Garden to just magically pop up somewhere in town.
But, I digress.
During certain times of the year, life on this island is worth every single second.
Just because of the breathtaking view.
Since mom arrived we’ve done a bit of extra exploring. Taking long drives, just to see where we might end up. Cruising up the mountains to take in the view.
It’s been breathtaking.
So today, I’m sharing the view…
with you.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how these turned out. Landscape Photography isn’t my forte, so I’m always ecstatic when my scenery shots turn out. I credit the quality of these to the beauty of the island. Because everything about our view the day I took these was remarkable.
It is SO pretty there! I remember missing all my favorite places in Germany. It is hard but keep taking photos. That is what really helped me in Germany too.
It’s definitely be hard being away from family, friends, etc. But, there are aspects of being here (like the scenery) that make it much easier to manage. 🙂
Thank you, Kathryn! I’m actually working on getting another shop section set up here on the blog. 🙂 These will be going up for sale when I get it ready!
My husband visited Kodiak Island in 2008 and still hasn’t stopped talking about the beauty. I recently completed a scrapbook of his adventure and we have very similar pictures! I suspect that the camera doesn’t do them justice.
So glad to know that your mom finally got there. I must have missed her arrival information. I have ridiculously worried about you! So many of the feelings that you have expressed sounded like they came out of my daughter’s mouth during her second pregnancy. So, here is virtual hug ()! And a big ROLLLLLLLL TIDE ROLL!
Thank you, Margaret! It’s a beautiful place. One of those places that you really can’t appreciate until you see it in person. These images are close, but it’s still nothing like standing on top of a mountain and seeing the whole town and ocean below you. 🙂 Roll Tide!
So amazingly beautiful!! Oh, I would love to visit with my camera! What a wonderful opportunity for you! Glad you and your mom are having fun…I’m off to read some more and catch up with you! 😉
Thanks, Meagan! I could spend all day photographing the island; despite the redundancy of the photos of mountains, etc. 🙂 Too much beauty for one place.

Just gorgeous! You’re lucky to live right in the middle of such beauty!
Thank you, Molly! It’s such a blessing to be able to see such gorgeous scenery on a daily basis.
It really is beautiful. Great shots.
Thank you, Alison!
Gorgeous. Visiting Alaska is a life dream of mine.
If you ever get a chance to visit, do it! The scenery is worth every penny that a trip out here costs.
