No, unfortunately I’m not setting up my new house here in Alaska, yet. However, I have been busy setting up my new home here on WordPress! It has been a somewhat smooth transition {if you don’t count the fact that I’m still having issues getting my Google Friend Connect box to work and that it took me four hours to figure out how to change my header the other night} and I’m extremely pleased with the new layout and the response from some of you who grabbed a peak at the new design a day or two before it actually went live. Your responses made my day and I’m thrilled with what is to come here on the blog.
So, what’s new here? I’m glad you asked! Aside from the completely different layout that gives you a peak at the posts from the homepage slideshow; There is also ample new advertising opportunities for those who may be interested in it. I’m working on a plan to add featured partnership between my blog and mommy-owned businesses and shops. *Featured* meaning top advertising positions for lower costs. But you’ll just have to wait and read about that when I work everything out. I’m also planning to revamp and redo my No Mom Talk Monday meme and bring it back full swing. I’m hoping that with the new look, the new location, and hopefully some new followers that we can grow it into something big and spread the desire to give mommy’s a little break once in a while. I mentioned before that I’ll be starting a Feature Friday section on my blog where I feature content from YOU that inspires me, makes me laugh, etc. That will start {pending we don’t get a new house before then} next Friday, February 4.
There is also a new community button featuring the communities that I frequent and a blogroll with my daily “must reads.” That list is still being updated, so don’t be upset if your name isn’t there. If you want it to be there and I haven’t added it yet, please send me an email. {NOTE: Only readers who are frequent commenters here on my blog-or the old one-will be added by sending an email.} There is a new blog button you can grab to share and the “voting” boxes have been added as well hint hint nudge nudge. I also have a fancy new email address and a CONTACT page in which you can drop me a line without ever having to leave the site! Just click the little “contact” tab on the navigation bar and it will take you there. If you prefer to contact me the old fashion way, you can by emailing contact@themommymatters.net or pr@themommymatters.net if you are interested in advertising opportunities.
I hope you guys will find this place to be as cozy and as welcoming as I have. It’s still a work in progress, so don’t be surprised if you come here one day and things don’t look exactly the same. I’m still learning WordPress, so it’s taking me some time to figure out everything that it can do. {And yes I did move the blog and design the blog myself.} Like I mentioned before, I’m still having issues with Google Friend Connect and I’m debating on including it here at all. There are tons and tons of WordPress Blogs that have it and I am hoping to keep most, if not all, of my Blogger Followers. If you would prefer a guarantee that all my new posts arrive to you, then I would recommend subscribing to the RSS/Email feed [which you can find it the sidebar]. Hopefully this issue with Google can be resolved, but just in case.
Hope you all have a great Wednesday and thank you for being so awesome!
