We had our very first (and most likely our only) baby shower on Sunday! One of my closest friends Jessica absolutely out did herself on the decorations and the food. I know most of you have never been to Kodiak, much less spent an extended amount of time here, so I’ll just put it this way: shopping and decorations are limited. Unless you can get it at Walmart or our one overpriced party store, you have to order it. So when I walked in and saw what Jess had put together for us, I was blown away. She did most everything all by herself and it turned out fabulous.
She went with a “Little Man” theme; complete with Chocolate Stogies, Top Hats and Mustaches. She even went as far as to cater the food to my all over the place pregnancy cravings (turkey and cheese sandwiches on rolls, a beautiful and delicious Blue Velvet Cake, and even Caramel Apple Party favors). She used our baby blanket as a center piece and made some of the cutest little tissue paper pompoms.
She made the chocolate mustaches that were on the cupcakes herself out of chocolate molds and her husband actually made the little guy on top of the cake himself using Rice Crispies and fondant. We had a small group of our closest girl friends show up and they brought us some of the cutest little things for Mr. Jonah. Adorable clothes, diapers and wipes, bibs, socks, toys…it was a great day and I’m so blessed and beyond grateful to have “family away from family” to celebrate occasions like this.
It’s hard to believe that this pregnancy is drawing to a close. We’ll be meeting our baby boy in just another five to eight weeks. I still don’t feel like I’m ready. And truthfully, it hasn’t even set in yet that he’s going to be here so soon. I still feel like there’s SO MUCH left to do and that I’m still completely unprepared.
I am assuming that we’ll adjust and I know that we’ll get it all done.
What other choice do we have, right?
I always feel awkward posting this, but I’ve continued to get messages and emails from readers asking about our baby registry. We are registered at Target & Babies-R-Us, but Amazon has the best shipping rates to Alaska. So, for those of you who have asked, you can find our baby registry here.

Too, too cute! Love the straws! Now then, if you would add something Alabama to your registry, I would love for Jonah to be ready for the Alabama-Auburn game, SEC title game and, of course, the National Championship game!
Thank you, Margaret! You can send anything Alabama! 🙂 LOL We’ll take whatever!
