  1. Kassiah says:

Thanks for this post! I’ve been debating on whether or not I should purchase one of these, and I guess I’ll have to bite the bullet and get one! xo

  2. Courtney, I’m embarrassed to say how little I use a planner. I’m known to be so organized. But, seriously I keep way too much in my head. And I don’t practice what I preach…yikes I’ve just typed it “out loud!” Thanks for the push…I’m not sure I see this planner being the one for me…but I’ll go check it out.
Hope you’re feeling well these days.

    • Courtney says:

Thank you, Diane! I have to use a planner or else I lose things. Like I mentioned in the post, I was having a hard time keeping track of all that needed doing. Post it notes didn’t cut it anymore and I was losing things that were important. I tried keeping things on my phone, etc. but the “delete” button doesn’t have as much of an impact as scribbling through/scratching things out. Haha. 🙂 Let me know what you think (if you decide to check it out!)

  3. Amy Willa says:

So, after reading your review, I think I will try an E.C. planner. . . I have been drooling over them for a bit now. . . but I was concerned, as you were, about the price tag.

The fact that I can consider it a business expense (and review it on my own, like you did) for a post on the blog while I am in school and really really hurting for content at my site. . . that helps too.

But I’m impressed that you liked it so much, and I really appreciate your candid list of pros and cons! Thanks for doing such a great review!

    • Courtney says:

The fact that I could consider it a business expense was one of the big pushes for me. I knew that I could claim it on taxes. Ha. The price was the biggest issue for me right to begin with, but now that I’ve used it, I know that I’ll order a new one every year.

  4. great post! i almost got this planner – and from your pictures i still envy it a bit…but for now i’ll stick with the one i have – it works well.
ps. i’m totally a pen snob too. ha ha. gotta have a pen that is JUST right 😉
    xoxo

    • Courtney says:

Oh yes. Most definitely. If the pen sucks, it goes in the junk drawer or straight to the trash. I hate crappy pens. I’ve finally found THE brand/style that I love and unless they stop making them, I won’t use anything different.

  5. Alison says:

Despite the cons, this does sound like a beautiful, functional planner! Love the cover design you chose.

    • Courtney says:

The cons definitely weren’t deal breakers for me. In my opinion, they were really minor and nothing that went against the overall concept and purpose behind the planner itself. Easy little things I can manipulate. 🙂

  6. jessica lynn says:

I saw all the fuss about her planners at least a year ago, but decided I could keep track of everything on my iPhone. Well, then my phone stopped synching with my computer and I started losing appointments. Long story short, I bought her notebook and LOVE it.

I noticed a couple different things with the one I have and the one you have, though (I bought mine in April). First, mine got here in record time! It took about a week and we live overseas so it had to come via APO. Maybe it got here faster because it wasn’t during her latest surge of orders and I ordered it in the “off season”?

Also, one thing I love about this is that it came with a little metal, spiral paper-clip to keep your place during the week. It must’ve been replaced with the plastic ruler-type thing you mentioned. All in all, I love my planner. I just need to get a bigger purse (I have a small day purse) so I can carry it with me wherever I go!

    • Courtney says:

Yeah I ordered when the latest version came out, so I think that’s why it took a bit longer for mine to arrive. Totally worth the wait though! I like the idea of the paper clip thingy better than the ruler. Who really uses a ruler in a day planner anyway?

  7. Kimberly says:

I’m embarrassed to admit how many planners I’ve purchased only to be disappointed in them and toss them aside later. I need to find one I can fit everything into. I do like your pros, maybe I’ll look into this one!

    • Courtney says:

That makes two of us. I’ve spent a small fortune on planers in the past only to end up tossing them aside and going back to my paper scraps and post its. 🙂 Definitely check into this one though if you’re looking for something to hold it all. I haven’t used a piece of scratch paper since mine arrived.

  8. Jessica says:

I can believe you haven’t had one before now! I ordered mine last year and while I LOVE 90% of the features, in last year’s version the tabs weren’t laminated and there were teeny-tiny little boxes for the month-view pages (as each month was squeezed onto one page)…those were my two biggest complaints and why I was NOT going to order again…and low-and-behold, they fixed BOTH of those things! I just ordered my new one the other day and am “patiently” (LOL) waiting on it!

You’re going to love it, it really is a life saver! I do still keep to-do lists clipped into the paperclip (last year’s version came with spiral metal paperclips for keeping place, which I love) so I have them at one view and don’t have to turn pages or anything but all-in-all, it’s perfect!

    Enjoy!

  9. Laura says:

Great seeing your opinion! I agree with all of your pros. I love the idea of separating the three sections into something other than Morning, Day, and Night. You’re right, it didn’t jive for me either as it is.

As for your cons, the pens aren’t awesome, but mine aren’t nearly as bad as yours are. They don’t skip or clot at all for me. I just wish the pink were brighter!

Also, on the back of the front cover it says “This is my life” and then there are lines underneath it. I see this as an information section where you can Sharpie in your name, number, address, etc.

My page marker stays put for now (granted, I really haven’t even had time to sit down and fill this thing out yet, so maybe it isn’t being used enough) and you’re right, it is hard to find. However, although it sits flush with the cover, my marker sits just slightly above the pages. Try feeling for it at the top of your planner. If you use your fingers to find it there, you can easily open to the correct page.

Yup. Shipping sucked. Not only did it take FOREVER but it was UNBELIEVABLY expensive. I do know that it takes so long because they make everything in the States, handmade, etc. So there is that.

    • Courtney says:

I can still find my pages using the ruler, it’s just not quite as long as I personally would prefer. I am so anally retentive about my handwriting on things that that’s why I have yet to use the lines on the inside cover. LOL I’m paranoid that I’ll write it and not like the way it looks. Hehe.

I’m glad you got decent set of pens! I’m still frustrated that mine were crappy. LOL

      • Michele says:

Love your review! I had last years version of the planner and I felt the same way about not having an information section. I TOTALLLLY understand about you not wanting to sharpie in your information in case you don’t like the way it comes out. What I did was that I bought dry erase markers and I wrote my info on the cover and it worked great! 🙂 If not dry erase markers, it also works just as fine with the markers that they use on overhead projectors in schools! Hope that helps!

        • melissa says:

Here’s a cool trick! If you use a sharpie on plastic, it will stay put unless you use a rubber eraser to remove it! Comes off clean every time! I use it on all my laminated projects and never have any trouble 🙂

  10. Kate says:

I’m a planner snob! I haven’t been able to find the kind of planner that I like either (and like your list, I’ve tried all those too), so I made my own. But I’m seriously going to check this one out, thanks for the review! I love stuff like this!
