That stuff you're afraid to talk about...the sin you think is too messy? We unpack that here...

Through good and bad, sadness and joy, my heart lies with showing the goodness of God in all seasons. Especially the messy ones.

There is purpose behind the

There is                  in the chaos,

Mess,

there is meaning in the

Every day society tells us that life has to be perfect and orderly to be beautiful. Our day-to-day should be a nothing less than perfect. We need a flawless aesthetic, a five year plan and perfectly curated social media. There's nothing glamorous about disorder and uncertainty. It's not "normal" to struggle.

But God wants to use those ugly parts, too. Those broken memories, those hidden struggles, and those less than beautiful moments.

God wants to use the ugly stuff, too...

*Alternately titled Five Books worth Reading During the COVID-19 pandemic.* I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. I devoured the entire American Girl book collection back before there were even dolls to go with the stories. Goosebumps, Saddle Club, and Babysitters Club books were my forte and I read […]

Friday Five: Books that Changed my Life

Books To Read During the COVID-19 Pandemic
REad More

It’s been quiet around here. 2018 has, so far, brought a whirlwind of changes for our family. We bid farewell to North Carolina and made the very long 3,000 mile drive cross country to California. After a couple of nonstop weeks, we finally got unpacked, settled down, and are falling into a new rhythm. I’m […]

Displaying a Passionate Intensity

Fervent Book Study with @CourtneyKirklnd
REad More

Happy New Year, friends! Can you believe that it’s 2018 already?! I wrote a grand total of THREE blog posts in 2017. Three. Almost exactly one year ago I was sharing my goals for 2017 and anticipating big things for the coming year. 2017 was by far one of the most difficult years our family has […]

Intentionality in 2018

Can you believe that it’s 2017, already? I actually wrote 2015 on a piece of paper the other day…and that’s been out for a while (hopefully we can say the same thing about the “dab” but that’s another post for another day). Like most everyone I know, 2016 was kind of an up and down […]

Contentment & Goal Setting

About two-ish weeks ago, I made a choice to purchase a new camera and get back to pursuing my first love: photography. I shared a wee bit of my story last week on failure, falling and allowing myself to give up because things didn’t work out the way that I wanted.  I’ve had several images […]

Capturing Life

There are times in life that, well, just suck. People get hurt. People pass away. Stress takes over. Kids get sick. Your heart gets broken. Things just don’t go like you want. It’s hard. Y’all it is really, really hard. When you have this goal…this dream…this hope in your heart and on your mind and then it […]

When Things Get Hard
(and you don’t know if God is listening)

If I were your enemy, I’d magnify your fears, making them appear insurmountable, intimidating you with enough worries until avoiding them becomes your driving motivation. I would use anxiety to cripple you, to paralyze you, leaving you indecisive, clinging to safety and sameness, always on the defensive because of what might happen. When you hear […]

Fear Not // Fervent Week 6

You know those times in life when you are walking around with a to-do list, a want-to-do list, a have-to-do list and then the I-don’t-even-want-to list all mocking you on any given day? That has been me the last several months. I have started quite a few little things here on this blog that have gotten pushed aside. Between everything that […]

Distracted

I’m tired of having to defend my decisions. Or my beliefs. Or my choices. I brought two little boys into the world and my sole purpose in this life is to raise them to be strong men. Good men who love Jesus and love people. Men who make mistakes, but who own those mistakes and do what it takes […]
