That stuff you're afraid to talk about...the sin you think is too messy? We unpack that here...

Pain.

There is purpose behind the

Beauty

There is                  in the chaos,

Mess,

there is meaning in the

Every day society tells us that life has to be perfect and orderly to be beautiful. Our day-to-day should be a nothing less than perfect. We need a flawless aesthetic, a five year plan and perfectly curated social media. There's nothing glamorous about disorder and uncertainty. It's not "normal" to struggle.

But God wants to use those ugly parts, too. Those broken memories, those hidden struggles, and those less than beautiful moments.

God wants to use the ugly stuff, too...

One of the most frequently received emails that comes through my inbox is, “How do I start a Design Business?“. In the last month alone I’ve gotten fourteen letters from different people regarding starting a business. I replied to one or two of them individually, but as the emails just kept coming, I decided that a […]

So, You Want to Start a Design Business?

How to Start a Design Business
REad More

I’m going to be honest…I am not the most organized person in the world. (Ssshh. If you listen really carefully you can probably hear my husband my laughing…as if he didn’t already know that I wasn’t organized.) Between managing this blog; running a somewhat successful design business full of deadlines; keeping track of birthday parties, playdates, […]

How I Organized my Life, Blog & Business

I feel like everything on my blog lately is the same: confessions about my lack of time to do much of anything… expressions of how utterly exhausted I am most days… excitement for all of the things that I want to do… and happiness over the design waiting list that continues to grow. Let me emphasize […]

Sacrifices

I have a million things that I could talk about today. I could talk about the tears I shed when someone I consider to be a dear friend, though we’ve never met in person, messaged me on Twitter to let me know that she was expecting. She wanted to tell me, personally, before announcing it […]

Building

I’m a dreamer by nature. I was born that way, I guess. Even when I was little, I was constantly envisioning myself living somewhere else…somewhere far away. Exploring the world, experiencing life and all that it had to offer. Traveling from place to place. Learning new languages, eating exotic foods, exposing myself to culture and […]

If Time Wasn’t a Factor

Being a business owner scares me. Not because of money. Or liability. Or fear of messing up someones blog or website. Those things could be bad; cataclysmic even to my business or my reputation. Those things worry me, but they aren’t the things that I dwell on. Those things that leave me antsy here […]

Losing Your Integrity to Competition

I never questioned what I would do with my life when I had kids. It was always just a given that I would become a stay-at-home-mom. My mom was always around growing up. She went to class parties, did the PTA thing, softball games, you name it. She was always a presence in my life […]

Why I Do What I Do

Growing up I always wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. My mom stayed home with my sister and I all during my school years. She was at every class party, every sporting event, joined the PTA…did all of the things that stay-at-home moms do. I knew that when it got time for me to have […]
