That stuff you're afraid to talk about...the sin you think is too messy? We unpack that here...

Through good and bad, sadness and joy, my heart lies with showing the goodness of God in all seasons. Especially the messy ones.

There is purpose behind the

There is                  in the chaos,

Mess,

there is meaning in the

Every day society tells us that life has to be perfect and orderly to be beautiful. Our day-to-day should be a nothing less than perfect. We need a flawless aesthetic, a five year plan and perfectly curated social media. There's nothing glamorous about disorder and uncertainty. It's not "normal" to struggle.

But God wants to use those ugly parts, too. Those broken memories, those hidden struggles, and those less than beautiful moments.

God wants to use the ugly stuff, too...

I like pretty things. I like pretty notebooks and colorful pens and washi tape. I like to decorate all the things…I’ve been known to take perfectly sized pieces of card-stock into bookmarks using some of the aforementioned tools. I watch hand-lettering videos on Skillshare and have given Calligraphy a failed attempt in the past.  I like things […]

You’re Never Going to be Good Enough

If I were your enemy, I’d disguise myself and manipulate your perspectives so that you’d be focused on the wrong culprit-your husband, your friend, your hurt, your finances, anything or anyone except me… (via “Fervent” pg. 39) I’ve never paid any attention to Spiritual Warfare. The idea that the devil is out to get me…that his demons […]

Getting Focused // Fervent Week Two

I said I wasn’t going to do it. I promised myself that I wouldn’t get caught up in it. I’d ignore it. Fight the temptation to join in. Think twice before doing something that I may regret down the road. I really had good intentions of just walking away. But that’s me, see? I’m the Queen […]

Casting Stones: A Christian Woman’s Perspective on the Ashley Madison Scandal

Can I be bold for a minute? I was terrified of this book. I mean like, really terrified. Put it in the freezer kind of terrified (and I apologize to those of you who aren’t friends enthusiasts who have NO clue what anyone would put a book in the freezer. You can see why here…). I […]

Fervent // Week One

Women's Book Club Week One Study of "Fervent" by Priscilla Shirer Hosted by CourtneyKirkland.net

I’ve been thinking about faith a lot lately. Not faith in the sense of what I believe. I know what I believe. I believe in the Trinity and the Virgin birth and the crucifixion and the resurrection. I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and was here from the very beginning right alongside […]

Shipwrecked

I’ve always known how to pray. “God is Great, God is Good…” or “Bless this food to the nourishment of my body and my body to your service.” Isn’t it funny how way too often the only time we ever bother to acknowledge God was when we in a time of sheer desperation (someone is […]

When You Know You Aren’t Giving it Your All

In my almost 30 years, I’ve learned that I am pretty good at several things. I can make a mean batch of homemade out of the box cupcakes with real homemade icing. I even use a fancy bag to ice them and make them all kinds of pretty. I can purge with the best of them. […]

The Road to Warrior

I’ve been thinking a lot about water lately. Sounds strange, I know. But, I’ve cut back on my caffeine intake a lot the last few months and earlier last week I made the mistake of drinking not only a very large cup of coffee for breakfast, but then a Venti Starbucks after lunch. That’s way over what […]

I got my first really ugly comment yesterday. I’ve done well, so far, to brush things off when the not-so-nice comments come through my comment filter. I’m not one to get bent out of shape over things like other people’s comments or opinion. And in truth, the comment that was directed at me really didn’t bother me because […]
