My biggest boy had his 4th birthday party a couple of weeks ago.
His FOURTH.
Someone please tell me where the last several years have gone, because I can’t figure it out. It seems like just yesterday we were getting ready to meet him for the very first time, and now here we are…weeks (or maybe days…who really knows, right?) from meeting his little brother.
Time has a way of slipping by us that’s for sure.
All I know is that the last four years have some of the best of my life. This little boy has brought me more love, more joy, more excitement and more frustration than I ever knew was humanly possible.
We went back and forth for weeks on end about what kind of party to have. He’s big into the Super Hero’s right now. So for a long time he said he wanted a Batman party. Then he wanted a Spiderman party. Then it was The Avenger’s. Fortunately for us, we only have Walmart to shop at when it comes to party supplies (unless I decide to order offline…which I don’t for this kind of thing), so he had to choose between Batman and Spiderman.
It was a long drawn out process consisting of a trip down the party supply aisle and holding up two different sets of party plates for him to choose from. In the end he struck up a bargain…Spiderman for his birthday. Batman costume for Halloween. I guess in the eyes of a four year old boy, it’s a win win.
We had his party at the base bowling alley and everyone showed up to help us celebrate.
I managed to snag a few photos, though I was highly disappointed in them. Between trying to referee a dozen children under the age of 10, keep my overly pregnant belly out of the cake and ice cream, and keep Noah from ripping into the gifts before it was time, I didn’t have as much time to take photos as I’d hoped.
Josh was four days post-op on the day of the party, so mom and I tried to handle it all on our own. Fortunately, we had a lot of wonderful friends who showed up to help us set up and took over when I was about to crack. Here’s a small (and not so fabulous) peek at the party scene.
Despite the chaos, it was a lot of fun.
(Have I ever mentioned how much I hate birthday parties? Whether it’s mine or someone else’s?)
We left the party with him repeating over and over that it was, “the bestest birthday party ever.”
That was all I needed to hear. Knowing that he had a blast was worth every ounce of the stress that came with it.
Four years old…
time sure is flying.
[…] all, I can do a lot and that’s good enough sometimes. We hit up the local Fall Festival and celebrated Noah’s Fourth Birthday! Then we finally reached the point of being completely and totally ready for our newest little guy […]

Yay!! Happy fourth birthday! I’m glad y’all had a party, even if was a lot of work! You know he loved it! That Spider-man cake is awesome! That’s some talent right there!
He did! He had a great time. And we were lucky enough to have some great friends willing to help out when Josh and I were both down and out so to speak. 🙂 And I totally didn’t make that cake. LOL Store bought…all the way. But it was delish!
He is so beyond precious!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HIM!!!!
When is baby due again?!
Thank you, Kate! 🙂 Baby boy is due on November 26…if we make it that long.
Aw, FOUR? That’s big, alright.
The birthday cake looks amazing!
Yep. I can’t believe it either. I was still getting used to the idea of him being a year old…and now we’re at four years. And the cake? Super yummy.
I love that he’s shooting his web at the camera person in the last family photo (and you look incredible). Happy birthday Noah!
Oh yes. He’s all about web shooting. He did the same thing to our photographer when we had our maternity photos made. 🙂 I’m eager to see how all of THOSE turned out! And thank you! I don’t always feel so incredibly, but I can’t tell you how much I Appreciate the compliment!
