Nothing makes this little boy happier than a day in the snow. You’d never know that he was born in Florida and spent a better part of his life enjoying warm temperatures, ridiculous humidity and the beach scene. While he adores the water and being near the ocean, this kid loves the snow. Sledding, snowball fights, snowmen…you name it and he’s game. He never hesitates to throw on his “big boy boots” and grab his sled for some playtime with daddy or the big kids next door.
And that big mountain of snow in the top right photo? That’s what our cul-de-sac looked like a little over a week ago. They pile the snow from the roads up in the middle of our street to get it out of the way. It was all of 15 feet high and 16 or so feet wide. Massive. Absolutely massive. I took that photo for perspective’s sake. Just so everyone could see how big it was. Our families in Alabama have never seen snow like this. It’s insane. But also one of the most beautiful and peaceful things I think I’ve ever experienced. There is just something about peaceful undisturbed snow covering the earth.
This life we live here in Alaska is growing on me…
This place is growing on me…

Beautiful photos. So much snow! We had that much in New England last winter. So much fun in the beginning, sooo old in the end. That amount of snow is crazy.
That mountain of snow is huge. It is enough to make your kid imagine he is in Everest and a climber who needs to conquer it. I can imagine the loads of fun he will have. I wish my kids could join him in his exploration.

that mountain of snow you’ve got looks like the ones that used to pile up around the blacktop of my elementary school playground. ahhh, memories.
Great pictures! Nothing quite as fun as playing in the snow on a cold, snowy day! Sure beats sleeping in bed all day.
