Just an update…

Since Noah is completley passed out right now after spending a long afternoon at the pool yesterday, I thought I would update my blog while I had some time. Josh got his job. (I can’t remember if I posted that he actually got it or just that he was going to interview…) He has to go orientate on the 7th of July, then he will start sometime after that. He’s so excited.

Let’s see. We had a pretty eventful week last week. Last Saturday I had Josh a birthday party. He had some of his work buddies over, we did a Low-Country boil with the shrimp and sausage and corn…YUM. Honestly, it wasn’t as good as the low-country boil we had at our rehersal dinner, but oh well. Although he would never admit it to anyone, I decorated for him. We had the party in our garage, so I bought red, white and blue streamers and hung them everywhere and went all Betty Crocker and made him a Boston Red Sox birthday cake. It was fun. He didn’t really tell me a whole lot of anything he wanted, so I took him to the mall and let him get some much needed new clothes. Then I got him “The Reagan Diaries” and the “ACDC Biography” which suited him just fine.

Tuesday was his actual birthday, so I made chocolate brownies (his favorite) and homemade lasagna (which I had never made). It turned out to be REALLY good. Then we spent the night watching TV and went to bed early. LOL. I guess that’s the life of living with a toddler. Friday night we went over to Brice & Shalena’s house for supper. They came over a few times to eat with us and she was insistent on getting to cook us supper. We had steak and potatoes, and Shalena made what should have been cheese biscuits, but turned out to be cheese cornbread. (Haha…just kidding!) It was really good. I love steak dinners. Then, like the big children we are, we played LIFE.

I got the general idea of what my life would have been like if we had twins…not a pretty picture. We had Noah and they had a baby about 6 weeks ago (Baby Neveah…) and at times it was a battle to see who could cry the loudest. But, we did have a lot of fun. Saturday, we got up to go to the car dealership. We are finally about to get a new car (08′ X-Terra…YAY!) and went to the pool. Spent part of the day cleaning the house, then for the first time since April, Josh and I went out…alone. He got a gift card to Home Depot for his birthday, so we went and ordered a much needed rug for our living room. Then we went to Walmart and out to eat. Not much, but it’s such a relief sometimes to be able to enjoy dinner without having to deal with a high chair and bottles and toys.

Sunday was Father’s Day. I had actually been looking as forward to this as Josh. We went and tried out a different church yesterday morning. We went to Calvary Chapel on 19 and enjoyed it a lot. Waiting on God’s will to see if it’s where we belong, but we really liked it. Since we had never been, I was unsure about leaving Noah in the nursery, so we took him with us and got to sit off to the side in a parents room with couches and toys and monitors so that the kids didn’t disturb church. It’s not something I would do all the time, but it was nice to keep Noah with us and still get to see what the church was about.

I made Josh a Father’s Day gift this year since he got stuff for his birthday. I wrote him a poem from Noah and did a paint handprint and framed it. He liked it…even got a little emotional. And he didn’t waste anytime hanging it in the living room. We went to the pool, cooked a cook supper (Pork Loin and Mac & Cheese…yummy!) and spent some time reading while Noah was in bed. Doesn’t sound like much, but I love the quiet times we get to spend together. Then it was back to work today, and errands that need to be ran. Ugh. I love the weekends so much better! His little brother is coming on Saturday to spend the week with us. Anyway, then my mom and sister are planning to come down the week of my birthday so mom can get some Granny time and I can get a little bit of a break…meaning, sleep!
