Is anyone other than me having a hard time getting into the swing of things now that Christmas and the holidays are over? What is it about that first week back that just seems to drag and drag and drag? I can’t seem to find a whole lot of motivation; which sounds funny considering how much work I’ve actually got done this week.
I mentioned Monday that I had a few projects up my sleeve for 2012. One of those is a Project 52 challenge (take one photo a week for an entire year). I gave Project 365 a try last year and failed. Miserably. I did okay for a few weeks, but then I started running out of things to photograph. And that’s when I realized that despite how exciting my life may be, there aren’t enough things around me to photograph every. single. day. I spend my time with my son and on my computer working and with my husband. Kodiak is beautiful, but let’s face it…how many mountains can you really photograph before they all look the same?
That’s when my friend Amy inspired me to try a 52 weeks Project. She’s doing something similar with her daughter called 52 Dresses (that link takes you to her Facebook Page Album…so cute!). She and I spent some time chatting and looking at the photos from the first several months and it’s amazing to see how much her little girl has grown. I think that when we are with our children 24 hours a day/7 days a week, we tend to look over the little changes and differences in their faces, shape, size. So I resolved to try the same thing with Noah this year.
Granted, I can’t exactly do a 52 Dresses Project, because, let’s face it…my husband would kill me if I tried to put our son in a dress. So, the idea behind 52 Faces was born. One photo of my little man a week, every week, for an entire year.
I’ll be excited to see how he’s grown. I’m sure I’ll do a recap post every month or every 3 months to see how much he’s grown.
Are you doing a 52 Weeks Project this year? I’d love for you to link it up! I’ll open the link every Friday at midnight and it will close the next Thursday. You don’t have to do 52 Faces, but I’d love it if you did. And I think you’d love it too when you were all finished and could look back at your children and see how they’d changed.
Here’s my first week’s photos. I was slightly disappointed, but couldn’t blame the kiddo for not being into it. It was about 12 degrees outside when we shot these and we’re under a Blizzard Advisory for the next 36 hours. That’s life in Alaska.
I love this idea! I gotta get mine posted for week one!
Thanks, Laura!! Looking forward to having you join!
I’m with you about getting back into the swing of things after the holidays. I’ve been dragging myself around my house the last week trying to get myself excited about stuff. Anything. Today, I went out walking with a friend and my brain did a reset. Ithink I’m coming out of it now. Yay!!
Love your 52 faces project! 🙂
Glad to hear you are coming out of your New Year funk. 🙂 I’m out of mine in a lot of areas, but I could still use a good kick in the creative writing department.
What a cool idea, I’m trying to do project 365 and I’m already failing. Amazing pictures as always.
Thank you, Jessica! You should come link up some of those photos you’re taking. I’d love to have you join the challenge!
Ooh, this is a good idea. I couldn’t do a 365 project – no way would I make it past the middle of January. But this is cool, and seeing the growth over the year would be really cool. I might just have to join you!
You should. You should DEFINITELY join in! I can’t do a 365 project either. I don’t have the time to sit and edit/tinker with a new image everyday. And I wonder how much I would really notice a change day after day. KWIM? Would love to see you come join!
Thanks so much for hosting this! I am so excited to do this project and so glad to have found you.
Thank YOU for linking up and joining in! I’m enjoying watching everyones children grow each week. 🙂
I love this idea. I will start this weekend! Awesome idea. Thank you. 52 faces of Jacob!
PS… I hope this is received as I am no totally sure if I am doing this right?!
Thank you, Ruthie! I’m glad you decided to do a similar project. I’d love for you to come linkup if you have a blog or a Flickr account. 🙂
I feel the same way. I kind of feel like I have writer’s block. I think it’s because I took a break between Christmas and New Years and now I can’t figure out what I want to write about!
Good for you for starting something new. I could never keep up with it, lol!
I agree. I always find myself in a bit of a slump after taking a break of any kind. I wish I was one of those people who came away from breaks with loads of new ideas. Oh well!
[…] friends, I’m linking in with Courtney’s 52 Faces. Do you have a 52 project happening this year? If so, what is it? (Please leave me the link!) […]
Oh, I really want to do this!!! I’m just afraid of not following through.
bah! But i can try right??
Oh, i decided to do it! And came back to link up… but you already did it for me! Thank you!! This will be good for me – something I had considered… but thanks for the kick start to make it happen!! 🙂
Glad you are linking up! I saw you had joined in this first week, so I took care of it for you. 🙂
