Are we already through the month of January already? Someone, somewhere needs to slow things down a bit. I’m not even over Christmas yet and Walmart is already bombarding me with big, stuffed Teddy Bears and boxes of stale chocolate. I even bought Little Man a box of Mickey Mouse Valentines Day cards the other day. He tore into them like it was a toy…until he realized that they were, in fact, just plain cards. Then he moved on to demolishing playing with something else.
I didn’t make it out to the Peninsula this week to take pictures. I had the best of intentions…the sun was shining, little man was in the best of moods, and my new camera was sitting all shiny and new on my desk waiting to be taken outside. Then the husband came home. Shivering like a popsicle. That’s when I took the time to look at the weather forecast. And it said 5 degrees. That’s not including wind-chill here, folks. That’s actual temperature. The wind-chill was something like -17.
So, since I had taken some fun pictures of Little Man on Tuesday, we bypassed the outdoor shots and instead crept into our PJ’s early and watched a movie.
I’ve been itching to take some pictures with an all white background. We have a down-comforter and mattress pad on our bed, so the other day when I took the sheets off to wash, I decided that Little Man and I would have a nice little mini-photosession right there in our bedroom. He saw it as an opportunity to jump and bounce where I saw it as the perfect chance to let it some beautiful Kodiak sunshine and snap some pictures. Don’t be fooled…he’s not as sweet as he looks. Okay. That’s a total lie. Because he really is.
I really do love this kid. With my whole entire heart.
People aren’t kidding when they say that there is something special and significant about the love a mother has for her son. I’m not knocking mother/daughter bonds and relationships, but from someone who only has a boy, I can honestly say that I’m not sure they’d even come close to matching up. I love my mama to pieces and I know she loves me, but this “being a boy mom” thing? It pretty much rocks. Little boys love their mamas. And this one? He’s no different.
In truth, it gets frustrating sometimes. The clinginess and the whining when I’m not right there with him all the time. But the fact that he still depends on me and relies on me is heart-wrenching. I know now why mother-in-laws are such a trial for us girls when we get married. I turn into a total mama bear when someone messes with my son.
I mean, look at that face?!
How could you not?
Thanks to all of you who have been linking up each week! It’s SO exciting to see your progress and to be able to watch your kids grow week by week! If you haven’t joined us yet, you should! You didn’t have to start at the same time that we did. Jump in anytime (yes, I’m talking to YOU, Michelle)!
On a similar note, I asked the question over on my Facebook Page and didn’t get a big response, so I thought I’d post it here. Lots of you have emailed, commented, and/or tweeted about interest in photography tutorials. I would love to share some of my self-taught knowledge with you on how I do things, edit pictures, etc. But I need some better ideas of what kind of information you want to learn. There is so much out there, so if you would take a second to either hop over to Facebook and tell me or leave a comment here, that’d be great!

I may have to take you up on the 52 faces! I really need to take pictures of my three kids every week to see how much they change. Your pictures are great! I definitely agree with the love between a mama and her son! I have two boys and a little girl. The boys desire my attention and my daughter prefers her Papa!
You most definitely should! I’d love to have you join 52 Faces!
Aww. So sweet.
He is, isn’t he? Sometimes…
Absolutely beautiful, Courtney!
Thank you, love!
