32 weeks. The reality that we could have our baby boy here in as early as four weeks hit all of us yesterday…craziness.
How big is the baby:
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You’re gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she’ll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth. (via Baby Center)
Total weight gain:
Right at 30 pounds at last weeks appointment.
Sleep:
Still having good nights and bad nights. I’m getting up more and more to use the bathroom at night and rolling from side to side is painful. I can’t lay on either side for too long or my hips start to hurt. I may regret saying it later, but I’ll be glad when the reason I’m getting up at night is because of a newborn and not because my body aches. I’d rather be sleep deprived and comfortable than sleep deprived and achy.
Best moment of the last week:
This past week was chaotic. The husband was off work all week so we got to spend lots of time as a family. We had lots of play time, watched some movies and I got a lot of work done. We also got our first snow last week. (Yes. I did say snow. In September.) It didn’t stick to the ground, but it was enough to see and it started settling on the mountains. It won’t be too long before we’re up to our ears (or at least our knees) in it. I got to knock a few things off of my to-do list including some work projects and some cleaning. And we spent a lot of time with friends. Great week last week…even if I’m exhausted because of it.
Movement:
Still a very active little boy over here. But, his movement is definitely slowing! His kicks are harder and more defined and I’m picking up on a bit of a pattern throughout the day. He’s still most active when I lay down to go to bed at night for about 45 minutes. He’s stretching himself out more…shoving his head into my pelvis and his feet into my rib cage. It’s painful and it does some really freaky looking things to my stomach. Oh! And he’s getting hiccups more and more like his brother used to. At least once a day.
Food cravings:
Hmmm. No particular cravings last week. In fact, I’ve actually avoided food a bit more lately. Still eating lots of fruit, but food is making me queasy again and I’m not enjoying anything like I was.
Food aversions:
None…
Symptoms:
My face is breaking out again, particularly around my chin (always my problem area). I’ve also had a return of morning sickness. I asked around and it seems like many of you who suffered from morning sickness in the beginning were plagued with it again in the end. Here’s hoping (and praying…fervently) that I don’t suffer with this for the next 4-8 weeks. Pregnancy in the last month is bad enough as it is without the added stress of nausea.
Noah’s 4th Birthday! We’re having his party two weeks early this year so that some close friends who are going out of town can attend. And we’re planning to spend the entire day of his actual birthday as a family. I’m planning a few little Pinterest type surprises for his big day (think balloons and streamers), so I’m excited for him!
Our Maternity Pictures! We didn’t have maternity photos made when I was pregnant with Noah, so I’m looking forward to some good family photos to document what legitimately could be my last pregnancy. Those are coming up October 21!
What I miss:
Not having to get up three+ times per night to pee. Though, I know it’s only going to get worse before it gets better.
Next Appointment:
Thursday, October 11.
