What Experienced Moms know…

Today, I have the privilege of guest posting over at Between the Lines for Laura. Laura and I met back in late 2008, right after my little guy was born. She’s a fellow military wife, a Scentsy consultant, and a fantastic photographer. Oh! And she has this unbelievably precious little boy named Ethan. You know, people are shady when it comes to telling a mom-to-be what life is really going to be like after their bundle of joy is born. Seriously. It’s kind of sad that we knowing moms hold out on the expecting mothers who are shamelessly clueless as to what they are getting themselves into. It’s almost as if it is some sort of “right of passage” or something. I guess you could call it a learning experience or something [boy, isn’t it?!]; we feel the need to let the moms-to-be learn the lessons the hard way. We listen to them as they oohh and aahh over our kids and how cute their chocolate covered faces are; how sweet that post-diaper explosion and Huggies scented wipes aroma baby smell is and how they “just can’t wait to be a mommy” for the first time.

We smile and nod as they go over and over and over how perfect their little coming home outfit is and how excited they are about that fabulous bedding set they bought from Pottery Barn Baby. KNOWING in our hearts that these mama’s are in for a rude awakening just as soon as they step out the door of the hospital.
