People run from it.
Psychiatrists bank on it.
Preacher’s preach on it.
God demands it.
Change.
There is no getting around it, no avoiding it, no pretending that it doesn’t happen. Sooner or later in your life you will have to encounter change. It happens all day, every day in each and every one of our lives. Sometimes we accept it. Other times, we ignore it…we push it to the back of our minds and pretend it doesn’t exist. We hope and pray that if we are lucky, whatever it is we don’t want to change will go away.
But sooner or later…it does. There is no escaping it.
Change happens in our lives from the very second that we are brought into this Earth. Think about it. Even an infant less than a few seconds old, is adjusting to change. Change from being inside his mothers womb, change from floating around in a liquid bubble to being in a big bright world with noise and lights and oxygen to breath.
We all change…we all evolve into something more than our original selves.
And if we’re lucky, we all choose to evolve in to better versions of our original selves.
I never dreamed that my life would change in the ways that it has. A small town Southern Girl living in the last frontier of Alaska. A girl with a sheltered childhood out experiencing the cultures and the vastness of the world that God created. A girl with a heart and a passion for writing that she’s never been able to muffle, writing and photographing her experiences for the world to read. A girl who strayed as far from God as one person could possibly stray, spreading the word of her Lord for any and all to read…
Project 16:9 begins tomorrow. And I’m challenging all of you to spend some real heart to heart time with yourself tonight and tomorrow morning as you work on your first assignment. God has really laid this project and this mission on my heart. The emails, the comments, the messages that I have received from my readers has been overwhelming…messages of lost hope, messages of desperation. Messages from women, like yourselves, who are looking for a reason behind their lives.
But you can’t discover that reason, that purpose, behind your life if you are unwilling to let God change your heart and your mind…if you are unwilling to evolve your mind and your thinking and open your life up completely to him. It’s hard. Believe me I know. But it’s so, so worth it.
One of the biggest things I had to accept within my life after my son was born was that no matter how much I loved my child…no matter how much I loved my husband…being a wife and a mother was not enough. I needed more. I needed a place to empty my heart. A place to share my world with others. A place to grow spiritually, intellectually and creatively outside of my family. So I started blogging. If you’ve read my blog for more than a month or so, you will see that even things as simple as my writing style and my blogging has evolved—has changed—into something different…something new…something honest and open and as heartfelt as it’s ever been.
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
My challenge for you today as we get started with Project 16:9 is to sit down and really, really think about what you want out of your life. Not necessarily out of your career…but out of your life in general. What do you want to do? What do you want to accomplish? If it’s ever been a desire for you, a passion, write it down. Where do you want to take your marriage? Do you want to move past the quick hugs and kisses when one of you leaves the house and set your marriage on fire with passion and love for one another again? Write it down. Do you want to devote yourself in an entirely new way to serving your husband and/or your children? Write it down.
Life is too short, my friends, to not chase after what you want. My biggest fear in life used to be that I would wake up one morning, old and decrepit, and realize that I did nothing of importance with my life. Nothing memorable, nothing significant, nothing exciting. That I just wasted away and drifted through life as if I had forever to achieve my goals.
Don’t let that be you.
Examine your hearts and your minds today. Make a commitment to take part in this project that I’m laying before you. God is speaking to my heart and my mind, and he has so much to share with all of you. I am eager to begin this series and I’m praying that it blesses you in ways you never imagined.
The first assignment link-up goes live tomorrow morning at 8:00 am Eastern time! If you somehow missed out on what the assignment was, you can find it and more right here.
Hope to see you then!
