I’ve been pondering on how to do our big gender reveal for several weeks. We’re having a party here at our house for some of our closest friends once we find out what little bean is. But, I wanted to do something fun on my blog, too. I liked Ashley’s idea of comparing her pregnancy symptoms to the guesses of the old wives tales but I also know that a lot of moms and moms to be compare their pregnancies and base their gender guesses on how things went down during the first pregnancy. So…I thought I’d do both. Then I’m going to let all of you guess! You just leave your prediction in the comment section below (boy or girl) and once we reveal the gender of baby bean in the next few weeks I will randomly choose a winner from those who guessed correctly.
What will the winner receive?
I debated this one, too. What should I give to make it worth it to enter?
I decided that I’m going to give away a $50 gift card to one of my favorite baby shops. But, then I realized that I had a ton of those, so the winner will get to pick where they want their card from one of the following:
Now. Onto the fun part.
Carrying high or low?
With Noah: Low and only in my belly.
With Baby Bean: I haven’t really been able to tell, but I seem to be carrying right around the middle and only gaining weight in my stomach again.
Old Wives Tale Prediction: I’d probably say boy.
Fetal heart rate?
With Noah: Heart rate ranged from 136-142 throughout my pregnancy.
With Baby Bean: Heart rate was 148 at my 14 week appointment and in the upper 140’s at my 17 week checkup yesterday.
OWT Prediction: Girl.
Husband’s weight gain?
With Noah: Josh gained around 10 pounds when I was pregnant the first time, though whether that’s because of pregnancy or because he’d lost so much before we got married, we’ll never know.
With Baby Bean: His weight has been pretty consistent this time.
OWT Prediction: Boy.
Cravings?
With Noah: Main cravings included cereal, Oreo’s, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Watermelon, Chips & Salsa, Cheeseburgers, and Pink Lemonade.
With Baby Bean: So far the only real cravings have been deviled eggs, plain potato chips, sweet tea, Sour Straw Candy, Cheese Toast and Carbs.
OWT Prediction: This one is up in the air. I am craving completely different things with this baby than with Noah and the OWT would have suggested a girl with him because of those cravings (mostly sweets). So, since I’m craving mostly salty stuff and carbs this time, I’m going to say girl.
Clumsy?
With Noah: I dropped and bumped into everything.
With Baby Bean: Aside from the usual, I don’t seem to be having any issues with this.
OWT Prediction: Girl.
Morning Sickness?
With Noah: Nope. No morning sickness.
With Baby Bean: I’ve been nauseated and queasy from the very beginning.
With Baby Bean: I used the IntelliGender test and it said boy. However, I also found out while reading some of the reviews that almost everyone received a boy result. You make your judgement here.
Pendulum over the Belly (using the same necklace for both pregnancies):
With Noah: Boy.
With Baby Bean: Girl.
What family thinks:
With Noah: Everyone thought he was a boy from the very beginning, myself included.
With Baby Bean: Josh & my baby sister say boy. My mom and Noah are both guessing girl. I’m leaving my prediction out because I know a lot of people say that a mother’s instinct is stronger than anything else. And I don’t want to sway the vote. 😉
Either way, we don’t care if the baby is a boy or a girl. We’re just excited to be welcoming a new little blessing into our family. Noah’s going to be a great big brother no matter what and I know that we’ll love this baby as much as we do our big boy. But, it’s still time to make your guess! Leave me your prediction (and why, if you feel like sharing) in the comments! Winner will be announced as soon as we reveal the gender!
Disclosure: None of the above mentioned stores have any idea that I’m hosting this giveaway. It isn’t sponsored nor am I being paid to share their stuff with you. I just like their baby products.
oh man I say boy, mostly because your first boy is so cute and I have heard good things about those test. I am hoping they are for whenever my body let’s me get pregnant again
I think it’s another boy. My pregnancy with Eve was smooth sailing. I didn’t get any sickness, no problems however, I gained TONS of weight and carried her all over.
With Lulu, I didn’t have any sickness or any problems again but I carried her all in my belly and low. I swore it was a boy since my pregnancy was very opposite of Eves but I had another girl 🙂

Either way I am soo excited for you!!!!

I say it is a girl! 🙂
After reading some of your weekly updates and seeing your symptoms/cravings/aversions, my guess is that it’s a girl.
