Love seeing you kick off this series, Robin.

I love your story and although it’s trite, it’s very true: sometimes life happens when you’re making other plans.

I know you’ll add another little to your family exactly when you’re meant to. In the meantime, have fun trying. 🙂

Our children are going to be 3.5 years or more apart because of my PPD and us getting married. I think about the gap a lot but it’s better this way.

There are roughly 44 months between our girls. I cannot imagine a smaller gap than that. I wanted to nurse at least 2 years with my first, so she was about 18 months before I could really begin to think about it. Dh was ready long before I was. We started seriously ttc when the older was about 2 and got our positive pee test days before her 3rd birthday.

I laugh a lot with my mom. Whenever I moan about how challenging I find life right now, she reminds me that when she was having kids, she had the same age gap as me, with a 2 yr old in the middle. I always crack as I respond that I can’t be held responsible for poor planning on her part.

The ppd part is hard. The birth of our first coincided with the first anniversary of our miscarriage. I barely left the house for months. Our second is most likely our last, but in my heart I know I am not done. So I am mourning what won’t be while tryi g to remember to cherish this last baby. In the 5 months since our youngest was born, I’ve lost 2 of my 3 remaining grandparents. I feel like ever time I am almost on top of everything the rug gets yanked out from under me again. I don’t think there’s ever a perfect time, just that at some point we get brave enough to take a leap of faith, and then we just have to figure out where we landed,

Gah…PPD messed that up for us too. Since my back is messed up, we discussed with my neurosurgeon that we’d have our babies close to each other…well that went out the window.
Despite all that I’ve been through, I would still love one more. But if we can’t, I think that I’ll be ok with that. I love my son to the moon and beyond and right now, that is enough.
If I were to have another, Chunky would be over 4 years old. Me and my sister are 4 years apart…then it goes 6 years, 9 years and 12 years…we are all still close. So does age/spacing really matter in the grand scheme of things? No.
