Color Me Happy
While I may not have a house just yet, I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to figure out how I want to decorate and coordinate said new house. A new friend made the mistake sure she let me know that we are allowed to paint in the Government Housing, just so long as we paint it back to the boring white when we leave. The husband, of course, wasn’t too thrilled with the idea considering he hates to paint. But this is going to be home for probably 4 1/2 years or so and I want it to actually feel like home.
I’m decorating the little guy’s room in a sports theme. He’s all boy and already lives for athletics, so we’re using the Alabama Crimson, Gray, Brown and a tiny bit of black to decorate his room. Something like this, with a little less blue and more crimson [less emphasis on the basketball…I don’t like orange]:
For our living room, I bought a beautiful painting of the Manhattan Skyline. It’s got various shades of blues and deep teals and a few rusty colors. It’s going to be the centerpiece of our living room since the dark browns in the painting match our new sofa & loveseat perfectly. It’s the same painting as this one, but different colors:
And our bedroom…well, I’m at a loss. I’ve got a few different ideas, but I’m not sure yet what I want to go with. I’ve really been digging the bright greens, yellows and browns lately. But I also am a total sucker for the color RED and have thought of including it. Maybe red and yellow? And I’m love, love, loving the muted colors; the pale blues, yellows, pinks…you know, those vintagey colors. Not sure yet. I want something that is relaxing and not too harsh…we live in Alaska so the 22 hours of sunlight factor is playing a part in my decision. I don’t want too much color and whatnot to keep me awake at all hours of the night. Things like this:
What do you think? If you were given the chance to completely and totally redecorate you house, how would you do it [emphasis on your master bedroom here, please].
Oh! I almost forgot! I conjured up a fun little idea for a contest that I’m going to share with you guys, probably the end of the week. Nothing major, just feel like giving something away.
