That stuff you're afraid to talk about...the sin you think is too messy? We unpack that here...

Through good and bad, sadness and joy, my heart lies with showing the goodness of God in all seasons. Especially the messy ones.

There is purpose behind the

There is                  in the chaos,

Mess,

there is meaning in the

Every day society tells us that life has to be perfect and orderly to be beautiful. Our day-to-day should be a nothing less than perfect. We need a flawless aesthetic, a five year plan and perfectly curated social media. There's nothing glamorous about disorder and uncertainty. It's not "normal" to struggle.

But God wants to use those ugly parts, too. Those broken memories, those hidden struggles, and those less than beautiful moments.

God wants to use the ugly stuff, too...

I hope that this post finds all of you having had a wonderful Christmas! We were busy all weekend and didn’t finish up all of our families Christmas festivities until last night; but we had a blast. Though Little Man’s new talking Buzz Lightyear was a huge success, he seemed more excited about the boatloads […]

Preparing for “goodbye”

April 17 was pretty much the hardest day…ever. At least, for me it was. I had to tell my husband goodbye. And let me be the first to tell you that I’m really not that great at goodbyes. I never really have been. I can deal with it; suck it up and handle my emotions, […]

I’m really not sure why, but all of my thoughts and creative juices seem to start flowing around 9:00 pm every single night. I would love to be able to lay down and just go to sleep like semi-normal people do. But I can’t. Instead, my mind waits until I can’t hold my eyes open […]

Acclimating…again

It’s been a week since we received the news that we are moving to Kodiak. I’m going to be quite honest…it’s taking some time to settle in. We aren’t talking a move to somewhere relatively close by. We are talking a major life changing move. A move that so few others have the courage or […]

Being told that you and your family are to be uprooted and moved to Alaska is a lot to take in. It is overwhelming and quite frankly, almost unbelievable. For us, Alaska has been on that ever famous list of “Places we want to go before we die.” And it was on our “Places we […]

10 Reasons I am cut out for life in Alaska

God amazes me. He always, always has a way of doing things that shock me, surprise me and send me to my knees. It seemed appropriate last night when I was typing this post that I had nothing scheduled to go up today. I spent countless hours yesterday morning trying to come up with something […]

Only because I’m a blogger would I have been thinking the ENTIRE time that this was going on, that it would make for a somewhat humorous blog. Ok. So maybe it won’t be that humorous, but I laughed. After I got done semi-panicking. {image credit} Hubby is still technically connected to his unit in Florida. […]

I had a breakdown the other night on the phone with my husband. Friday night, I think it was. I just seemed to have completely and totally lost sight of everything that did matter and focused instead on a bunch of junk that doesn’t. The separation is taxing and exhausting. Especially on the days where […]

The Post where I empty my brain…

Single Parenting is not for me. I don’t know how you other single moms and military moms do it. The past 4 months have been exhausting and extremely taxing on my nerves and my patience level. I worry that I am doing an awful job. I fear that Little Man isn’t getting everything he needs, […]
