Blue, blue, and more blue. No pink here, at least not yet (But that’s another story, for another day).
When I saw that sonogram three years ago that showed me that I was going to be a boy mom, I had no idea what to do. I grew up with a sister, I had girl cousins. There weren’t a lot of boys in my immediate family that I was close to. How was I supposed to raise and take care of a son?! But, when they handed me my little ball of joy in October 2008, my world suddenly seemed right. I was a mom. And not just any mom. I was a boy mom…responsible for raising a son who would grow up to be a husband and to become someone’s daddy. I knew right then, that my life, and my responsibilities in life, would never be the same.
All of this to say, that this is why I am linking up with the first ever Annual Boy Mom Blog Hop over at the M.O.B. Society.
My name is Courtney and this is The Mommy Matters: a real life look at motherhood, marriage, and everything in between. I blog about a little bit of everything including photography, social media and blogging. I’ve been doing this blogging thing since August of 2008 when I was pregnant with my son; I have to say it’s been the cheapest and most effective form of therapy that I’ve ever experienced. I’ve met some amazing people and made some lifelong friends. More than anything, I’ve learned that just because you’re a mom, doesn’t mean that you’re life can’t exist outside of parenthood.
I just launched my own Graphic and Blog Design Business this month called Amplified Designs; which started as a result of my constant blog modifications and tweaking. Having a son opened my life up to a whole new realm of creativity, and I can honestly say that I owe my career to my son.
Enough about me. Let me introduce you to Little Man…
Meet Noah, though here you will find me referring to him as “Little Man.” He’s almost three, and is as rambunctious and feisty as any little boy can be. He’s all about dirt, rough housing, and things that move (planes, trains, and automobiles). He idolizes his daddy but has a special place in his heart for his mommy (which I kind of love, by the way). He’ll be starting Pre-School in October, and we’re in the process of trying to give him a baby brother or sister, so you’ll find me occasionally rambling about that here as well. I also do a monthly feature called Letters to my Son in which I document his milestones and memories in a series of words and photos that I hope to give to him one day.
So, there you go! Me, the kiddo and my blog in a nutshell. I look forward to meeting some of you fellow boy mom’s. The job we have isn’t easy, but it’s so, so worth it!
And just in case you’re looking for some more places to ramble while you’re here, make sure you check out my Reader’s Choice page. Here you’ll find links to my most popular (and controversial) posts about marriage, motherhood and blogging. And if you’re looking for more posts, photos and letters about the little guy, click here!
Hope to meet some of you soon!
I think your little boys is adorable! There is no pink in my house either. I would love to have a little girl tho 🙂 Shhhh! don’t tell anyone. lol. I am visiting from the MOB BlogHop and came across your blog. It is so nice to meet other moms of boys. I hope you are having a wonderful week.
That makes two of us. We are trying for a second child and I REALLY have my fingers crossed for a girl!
I’m visiting from the MOB Society. It is great to meet you. I love your blog design. I’m relatively new to all of this blogging but I’ve been getting some good ideas from all the blog hopping I have been doing this weekend. I absolutely love your idea of Letters to your Son. I know that he will truly appreciate and cherish them.
Thank you, Meaghan! Welcome to the blogging world! If you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me! The Letter’s to my Son feature has become an absolute favorite aspect here. It’s one of the things I look forward to the most every month.
Gosh he’s so cute! Love the superhero cape 🙂
Thank you, Lisa! He absolutely LOVED the Superhero cape!
Funny, when I found out I was having a girl I was worried because I had brothers! 🙂 But then God graced me with three boys, as well.
Nice to Blog Hop meet you. 🙂
Thanks, Jessica! I hope you are having a great week so far! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Too cool…lovin’ the link up idea…so going to participate in this one. Oh and you’re doing a great job as a Boy Mom…he’s adorable!
Thank you, Jessica! I’m doing the best I can, but there was a definite learning curve! 🙂
Love your little man! Best wishes on TTC! Maybe you’ll be a MOB squared! 🙂
Thank you, Erin! 🙂
I do have a girl too, (my oldest is a girl), but boys are different. Boys love their moms different than girls do…boys are awesome.
Oh yes. I don’t have a little girl, but I can see the difference between my friends with daughters and my relationship with my son.
Those photos are beautiful!
In our sea of love
thank you, kaitlyn!
