I am terribly insecure and this post rings so true for me. I see so much of myself in my daughter and I worry about how this will affect her growing up. I try so hard to help her feel confident and make sure she knows she is amazing and loved and I can only hope that I can continue to gain my own confidence so that I can show it to her.

Well, if it’s any consolation, you don’t SEEM like you are insecure. You seem full of life and excitement about the things that you have been blessed with. I’m sure you daughter sees that, too! 🙂

  2. I get this. Very much so. It’s taken me years to accept that there are a few things I cannot change (my legs are also not getting any longer!). So why waste the energy wishing and hoping for something that cannot be? I do not want to pass that on to my sons, either.

    Great post!

    • Courtney K. says:

EXACTLY!! LOL There are just some things that we can’t change or make different, so why not channel that energy into an area that we CAN improve?

I like that you said you’re a better version of yourself today. That right there shows that you’re on the right track to showing acceptance to your children.

    • Courtney K. says:

Thank you, Kimberly! 🙂 I agree….it’s a constant struggle, but it’s worth it all the way around in the end.

  4. I like your point on evolving, of being a better version today, and an even better version tomorrow. Thank you for sharing!

I like that you talk about being accepting AND improving! Wanting to improve things is awesome, in my opinion, when you can look at something you want to “fix” and come up with a positive, concrete plan to fix it. It’s when you (the universal “you” not you personally) get paralyzed by the doubts that it’s a problem.

What a great thing to realize that you want to stop the insecurity so your children (current and future) don’t have those same feelings!

    • Courtney K. says:

I agree. I think that seeing areas that we KNOW we can be better in is a sign of character. Contentment is a great quality when it comes to accepting life overall…but I don’t think we should ever reach the point where we start to believe that we can’t do better or be better at something.
