When I started blogging back in 2008, I didn’t realize what a viable part of our family history I was putting together. What started as a creative outlet for my own personal sanity, has become a journal, a baby book, a family heirloom, and a scrapbook all rolled into one. Through this blog I’ve been able to keep track of the birth of our son, my second pregnancy, the milestones and growth he’s made in the last three years, separation, deployment, and a move across country. I’ve talked about myself, but it’s only natural that I introduce you to my beautiful family.
This is my masculine, overly-southern, sports enthusiast, music-loving, medically-minded husband. He’s my best friend, my soul mate, and the best father any little kid could ask for. He’s been my rock during some pretty tough times in the nine+ years that we’ve been together, and I can’t imagine my life without him. We’ve definitely hit some rough patches in our marriage…things aren’t always perfect and we’ve been on the receiving end of God’s grace more than once. But, we pull through.
He’s a Corpsman in the United States Coast Guard and is currently pursuing his degree as a Physician’s Assistant. Up until recently, his plan was pretty clear for himself…but the Lord has laid new plans on his heart and we’re excited to see what that means for our family and our military journey in the future.
We’ve had some ups and downs in the {almost} ten years we’ve been married, but God is good and through it all, he’s reminded us time and time again that He can heal all things. There’s no one else I’d rather spend my days with and have to raise our children with.
Our nine-year-old first born…the precious gift who made us parents. He’s our introverted, literal thinker. Recently diagnosed with severe ADHD and childhood anxiety, he is teaching us all about patience, understanding, and flexibility. He is BOY through & through. He’s a lover of all sports & pretty partial to Dinosaurs, Sharks & LEGOS. He’s got an arm like you wouldn’t believe & I’m certain he’ll be some sort of ballplayer someday…unless he becomes a paleontologist like he says he wants to be…or a “shark study-er.”
He’s the second son that I never knew my heart needed. Our rambunctious and giggly five-year-old love. He’s been smiling from the moment he came to us and hasn’t stopped. One thing is for certain: he doesn’t like being a baby. He idolizes his big brother and wants nothing more than to do everything he’s doing. He’s a baseball enthusiast and loves his LEGOS, his puppy, and his mama. He is our jokester and our free-spirit…marching solely to the beat of his own drum. He is a joy to our whole family and we couldn’t imagine going back to the time before he was born.
Our beautiful only daughter. God knew my heart when answered our prayer for a little girl. I grew up with a sister and love nothing more than being a mama to my two little boys. Yet, I always hoped that there would someday be a little more “pink” around here to round out and complete our family. This little ladybug made her debut on October 10, 2017, and has brought such a light to our lives. Her big brothers adore her, her daddy is completely wrapped around her finger and this mama has a whole new perspective on life and what kind of influence I carry for her.
