Not much going on here in our neck of the woods today. Nor is there a lot to write an entire blog post about, so instead I give you these random tid bits:
*I think we have finally came to the conclusion that we will not be going to Alabama for Christmas this year. It just isn’t going to work out financially. Which, in a way, isn’t a big deal since we were there for 10 days in November. We have got to do some work on my car. The front end is out of line again and hubby said something about “tire rods” or something like that may need replacing. Which all I’m hearing is ‘blah blah blah money blah money blah blah money.” If we try to go home, then everything that is wrong with the car is going to have to be fixed before we go. Which means that we wouldn’t really have the money to give one another anything for Christmas. If we stay here, the car can be fixed gradually, meaning we can actually have Christmas. Which is fine with me. I love our house and I have it decorated for the Holidays, and would really like to spend Christmas in our house rather than running all over the country.
Going home to visit is such a headache. It really is. I love all of our family to death, but it feels like we come home more stressed out and exhausted than we were before we went home. We just run and go non-stop, and listen to everyone complain that they aren’t getting enough time with us and it’s just a pain. Having Christmas in Florida, in our house, just works better for us.
*Noah has walking down to an ART. He is still stumbling and crawling just a little bit, but his walking has definitely improved over the past 2 weeks or so. He hasn’t quite got walking with shoes down yet, but he’s getting around to it. He can walk beside us with one of us holding his hand now. Which is really cute. That’s one of those mommy things that melts my heart. He has also discovered the world of Veggie Tales. Remember me talking about the Cucumber we had to buy him? He is completely mesmerized by the show. I can put it in, and he sits. Quietly. Unmoving. For the duration of the show. I love it. We only have 3 movies right now, but that’s going to be a big part of his Christmas this year. They aren’t really that expensive and they are well worth the money.
* My Christmas tree is unfinished. I am lacking lights on the bottom 4 or 5 inches. I ran out. And I’m getting too cheap this close to the holidays to go out and buy anymore. But it looks really good. I am so excited that we found the tree that we wanted, in the size that we wanted, for the PRICE that we wanted. [Haven’t seen our tree? Check it out here.] I haven’t set out a lot of other knick-knacks and stuff. Mainly because I don’t have any, but also because Noah would pull all of them off of their shelves and try to play with them. He did that last night at a friends house and it nearly drove us all crazy.
* I am reading the book of “Romans” right now and loving it. It took a chapter or two to really get into the best part [well, my favorite part would be a better description] and now that I am I can’t get enough of it. I’ve not exactly had the time the past couple of days to do as much as I would like to, but I am hoping to spend some time reading later tonight.
*Noah has been in a mood the past couple of days. Not sure if it’s because we had to get up earlier than he was used to a few days last week and his schedule is off, or if it’s this last tooth he has coming in that’s driving him crazy. But he is ILL. And whiney. And excessively clingy. I haven’t been able to accomplish much of anything the past 3 or 4 days. Like now, for instance. He is watching Veggie Tales. And eating crackers. And drinking a bottle of Apple Juice. All in my lap. Not that I mind the closeness he has decided that he wants, but it gets irritating when you can’t even go pee because he freaks out if you leave him. And I really can’t get any cleaning done, which frustrates my husband to no end some days. This morning he woke up at 6:15, and layed snuggled up in the bed with me for over an hour. {That never happens} Then, when he got ready to take his nap this morning, he actually let me rock him to sleep. Hmmm…wonder what’s going on with all of that?
*I submitted my very first article to a newspaper today for publishing consideration. I used one of my favorite blog posts and had to do very little tweeking. I added some stuff in just to make my point a little clearer, but I was proud of it. {If you want to read the original article, go here.} I am really excited. The newspaper I sent it to doesn’t pay or anything, but it’s just to get my name out there and say that I have had something published. I’m going to go through and pull some more of my favorite blogs and tweek them a little so I can submit those to. I’m really excited! [Wait, I said that didn’t I?] Not going to get my hopes up too high though. They pretty much have a set staff of writers, so it’s probably not very likely that anything will get published, but we shall see. God works for the good of those who trust in him. I’ve got another list of Christian and Mommy Magazines that take articles so my plan is to send some of them to those as well.
*I am thinking of adding something new to my blog. Something I have really thought alot about and think everyone would enjoy. I think I want to start interviewing and allowing guest posters on occasion. Anyone interested in that? If you would like to be a guest poster OR would like to be considered for an interview, then email me mailto:%7Bbeautifulmessblog@gmail.com}
*Speaking of email, anyone know how to add an email contact button to your blog? I am pretty good with widgets and html formatting, but I can not figure out how to do it. Again, if you know, you can leave a comment or email me the how-to. I would greatly appreciate it, and, of course give you credit here.
Ok. That’s all for now I guess. Noah’s video is almost over and I’m really hoping that he will lay down again when it’s over so I can get dressed. I showered over two hours ago but can’t get him to get out of my lap and out from under my feet long enough to even dry my hair or throw on some makeup. Plus, I have a friends daughter coming over tonight for me to tutor her in English and History, so the floor needs vaccuming and the downstairs bathroom needs a quick wipe down. Oh, and did I mention that it’s 2:00 pm and I have yet to have lunch? I’m STARVING!
Hope you’ve all had a good day!
