This weekend was one for the books. The sun came out, and stayed out all day Saturday and Sunday. We experienced somewhat of a heat wave with temperatures on the island topping out at 47 degrees. So we took full advantage. We left the computers, the iPods, and all the technology indoors and soaked up some sunshine. I was enjoying the sunshine so much, that I didn’t even drag the camera out to take pictures. Saturday night we grilled out with some neighborhood friends and their kiddos and enjoyed plenty of really good food and great conversation. Sunday consisted of watching NASCAR, a bowling birthday party for our neighbors little boy, and more time in the sunshine. It was just one of those all around fantastic weekends.
I have to admit, I really enjoyed being unplugged from the internet all weekend. Aside from working on this blog post and showing Amy the wonders of Pinterest on Saturday, I haven’t turned on my computer. No blogging, rare tweeting, no blog reading…nothing. And it was fantastic. I think I’ll have to start making more of a habit out of that. I’ve been wanting to cut down on my computer time for a while now, and this weekend was a reminder of how much I enjoy not being plugged in.
Project 16:9 was a huge hit on Wednesday. I received emails, tweets, and Facebook messages from people letting me know they were joining in, even if they couldn’t or wouldn’t be blogging about their journey. It was humbling and exciting to see and hear from so many of you who are longing for something more and something deeper in your lives. In case you missed it on Wednesday, the assignment for this week is:
Make a list of everything that is holding you back from going after what you want. Every excuse that you can think of…finances, negativity…whatever it may be write it down. When you’re finished, shred it into tiny pieces and put it in the trash. Let those feelings go! They’re gone and we won’t be digging them out of the garbage again. NOW sit down and make out a plan…a strategy of how you are going to accomplish your dreams. The big goals you made in Week One? Set out to figure out how you can get there. If you’re planning your career, start thinking about what kind of schooling you might need. Are there classes online you can take? If you’re doing this from a spiritual approach, looking to amp up your walk with God, what steps need to be taken to get there? Do you need more time in the Word? More alone time to pray? Research some books or blogs you can find to help you along the way.
I want you guys to really dig deep with this one. I’m going to be sharing some pretty personal insights into my past, my struggled and my insecurities. Remember, you don’t have to blog about it if you don’t want to. You can journal privately if it allows you to open up and examine your heart a little deeper. But I would appreciate it if you would comment and leave some insight into your journey, and visit the ones who are linking up and sharing their experiences online. Excited to continue this journey with you guys!
On a last note, would you guys mind saying a prayer for the husband’s uncle? He had a car wreck yesterday, and although he avoided a head on collision, he ended up cracking his sternum and bruising his lungs and ribs. It’s going to a be a long recovery for him and I’m certain that he would appreciate any prayers you might be willing to offer up for him.
Hope you guys have a wonderful day, today! I’m off to enjoy another day of sunshine with my kiddo. 🙂
