I went back and forth on how I was going to do the weekly bump reports, but I love the format that Ashley uses for hers. So…I’m stealing it. 🙂 I think it offers a pretty good look at what each week of pregnancy is like, so this is the general format I will use every week. I’ve added in a couple of questions at the bottom pertaining to Little Man and how he does with the pregnancy, so I can keep track of that, too.
8 weeks
Baby is the size of a Kidney Bean and measured 12mm long at our appointment today.
Zero. I’m back and forth between wanting to eat and not wanting to even see food. So I haven’t gained or lost any weight yet.
I’m sleeping okay. Some nights I wake up 3-4 times to go to the bathroom and then others I sleep like a rock without so much as rolling over.
Not yet. I have thrown the belly band on my jeans the last few times I’ve worn them out though. I can still zip my jeans, but the button is really uncomfortable; especially when I’m sitting down.
Seeing our little bean on the ultrasound. We couldn’t see it on the regular ultrasound because my uterus was sitting so low down in my pelvis (which may or may not have left me in tears and fearing the worst), so I ended up having to have the transvaginal ultrasound (which…was not comfortable, in case anyone was curious). We got a good clear picture then and saw the tiny little heartbeat. Baby’s heart rate was 160 beats per minute. It’s still to early to hear the heartbeat, but seeing it was more than enough comfort for me right now. Just knowing that he or she is alive and beating is all that I need to know right now.
These are coming and going. Some days, I’m so nauseated that I have zero desire to eat whatsoever. Then others, the cravings are full strength. In the last 10 days, I have craved Cheese Toast on French Bread, Salt & Vinegar Chips, Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches, and McDonalds Milkshakes with Fries. I shared my Salt & Vinegar craving on Facebook the other day and a friend of mine was kind enough to bring me a bag of potato chips. I have to say, though, that pregnancy cravings are one of my favorite things about being pregnant.
No real aversions so far except food in general on any given day. When I want something to eat, I want that and only that. Otherwise, food makes me gag. The smell of ketchup, bacon (or anything else overly greasy) and chocolate tend to make a little more nauseous than usual.
Morning Sickness (more like all day sickness), utter exhaustion, and a bit of stretching/pulling as baby grows. And let me not forget the mood swings. Holy Moly. I don’t remember them being this bad with Noah, but I am all kinds of hormonal. I am annoyed at the drop of a hat these days. Facebook Status updates seem to be what gets me. The husband always knows when I’m in a mood because I’ll start commenting on how stupid some status updates are. And then the other day we went out to eat with friends and I laughed so hard that I was crying (like really crying…not just a few tears here and there) over something that normally wouldn’t have really been that funny.
No clue.  🙂 But, we already have our ideas.
He’s still insistent on it being a “baby siser.” He hasn’t even mentioned a brother since finding out that I was having a baby.
We have a 10 day trip to Anchorage planned in May that I’m really excited about. Anchorage is full of things to do (hello Target and Olive Garden!). I’ll also be out of the first trimester by then, so I’m really looking forward to getting some of my appetite back and enjoying the restaurant scene while we are there. Also really excited about finding out baby’s gender, of course. We’re planning to have a fun Gender Reveal Party this time, so I’m really looking forward to that.
Aside from being able to eat without feeling like I’m going to puke, nothing.  🙂
May 21.
So far, he’s doing just fine. He loves babies and does so well around them. He went to the doctor with me for the ultrasound and was such a proud big brother holding onto the Sonogram picture. I didn’t even get to really look at it because he was so mesmerized by the photo. We told him that was his baby brother or sister and he held his hand out to quickly correct us and say, “No. That’s my baby siser.” I wonder if he knows something that we don’t? I think he’s really going to be a big help when the baby comes. He loves to sit with me and look at baby toys and bottles. I’m excited to see how he does as my belly continues to grow. When I went to take these photos, he insisted that I take a picture of his belly, too. So…I’m eager to see if that becomes a weekly thing. 🙂 I guess I can add it in and we can see how much his tummy grows.
[…] for 52 Faces this week, but I can’t make any promises. As you can see from this weeks photo compared to last weeks, I’m not nearly as bloated (thankfully) as I was. About CourtneyMy name is Courtney. […]
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these photos!!!
YAY!! So glad everything looked good. Cute photos. So excited for you and your weekly updates.
Congrats! Love those pictures! 🙂
I’d give Noah’s prediction some weight. JBird INSISTED I was going to have a girl and she was right 🙂
Great post!
I craved peanut butter and jelly like crazy in 3rd trimester. Love it!
