That stuff you're afraid to talk about...the sin you think is too messy? We unpack that here...

Through good and bad, sadness and joy, my heart lies with showing the goodness of God in all seasons. Especially the messy ones.

There is purpose behind the

There is                  in the chaos,

Mess,

there is meaning in the

Every day society tells us that life has to be perfect and orderly to be beautiful. Our day-to-day should be a nothing less than perfect. We need a flawless aesthetic, a five year plan and perfectly curated social media. There's nothing glamorous about disorder and uncertainty. It's not "normal" to struggle.

But God wants to use those ugly parts, too. Those broken memories, those hidden struggles, and those less than beautiful moments.

God wants to use the ugly stuff, too...

I’m not sure if everyone who stops by here these days realizes that our time in Kodiak is coming to a close. Soon. As in less than one week soon. We leave on Sunday. For good. I’ve sat to write this post  many times. More so to update whoever still reads this blog on what […]

Kodiak: Then and Now | Our 4 Years on the Rock

I have a confession to make… living in Alaska has been one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. The summers here are beautiful and shiny and bright and full of sunshine and warm air (sometimes). Summer is full of camping and hiking and taking walks and trips to the park. It’s full of […]

50 Shades of (Alaskan) Grey

One of the biggest perks of living in Alaska is the scenery. Hands down. Yes, I miss the shopping (umm…Target) and dining experiences offered by the lower 48. Immensely. In fact, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t wish for a Chick-Fil-A or an Olive Garden to just magically pop up somewhere […]

Take it all in…

I had an entirely different post prepared for today. Had a post about how full of love and excitement my heart has been these last few weeks. And then we had a situation arise here on Kodiak that changed our day a little bit. I’m sure some of you saw the news. That there were […]

When Other Things Matter

I thought I might have something interesting and insightful to share today to go along with my 52 Faces post. Thought I could be as profound in my posts as Laura is in hers, but I’m just not. At least, not this week. This week we’ve done a whole lot of snow-shoveling, movie watching, WordPress […]

52 Faces | Week 5

Nothing makes this little boy happier than a day in the snow. You’d never know that he was born in Florida and spent a better part of his life enjoying warm temperatures, ridiculous humidity and the beach scene. While he adores the water and being near the ocean, this kid loves the snow. Sledding, snowball […]

In the Snow We Play

Growing up in Alabama, we never got to experience a Snow Day. When we did get snow (which, anyone living in the deep south knows only happens once every 10 years or so…) it was only enough to cover the ground. Maybe an inch if we were really lucky. Snow is just not in the climate […]

Snow Day

Today is going to be one of those list posts. The ones I tend to try to avoid, but on occasion just need to lay out there. I’m not going to bore you with my almost empty because I don’t have a house or a kitchen grocery list or with more reasons why I am […]

Because I can’t think of a title…

Well…if I can’t say anything else about our travels over the past few weeks, I can say this: this blog has been written all over the place. I’ve blogged in Florida, I’ve blogged in Alabama, Tennessee, Nebraska, Missouri, Seattle, and now I’m blogging in Alaska [which will be a pretty prevalent thing for the next […]

Alaskan Arrival Recap

I hope that this post finds all of you having had a wonderful Christmas! We were busy all weekend and didn’t finish up all of our families Christmas festivities until last night; but we had a blast. Though Little Man’s new talking Buzz Lightyear was a huge success, he seemed more excited about the boatloads […]
